Mobile phone company 3 UK blocking MRa websites

Not sure if people here are aware of the issue, but we've had comments posted over at TROM blog that 3 UK are blocking various MRA websites (as in pin-blocking them). Both antimisandry and manwomanmyth are included in this apparently.

I can only guess it's a case of feminist censorship, so people might want to make some enquires and maybe even cancel their contracts if the news is true. I expect admins here already know about this, but just posting in case they don't.

As far as I understand, legally, the communication sphere is still rife with legal complications (maybe a good area for a budding lawyer to specialize in).

Are comparable feminist websites blocked? If not, what 'framework' of law are they attempting to justify blocking MRA websites? Log all responses carefully for future reference. I suspect the blocking of MRA sites are more grounded in politically correct etiquette than anything prescribed by common law?

Tis true, the url is blocked through 3's search. I had not noticed this before as I always use the google app.

Can you contact them and enquire as to why they feel you should be disallowed from viewing content you wish to view and perhaps why they assume they have your consent to block informative websites?

There's always this marching and depressing idea among the historical masses that once there's any official 'semblance' of response then it is set and cannot be questioned etc. Bullshit, that must only be the beginning!

Things move mysteriously quicker when the common man (me) adopts a greater grasp of the law. Strange that.

Possibly CD, but it's also possible that I misunderstood the OP in some way as I don't really know what pin blocking is.

After reading the OP I opened the planet three app on my phone, all content within P3 is free to browse and does not affect your Internet usage allowance, If you wander off outside P3 it gives you a warning (if you are out off allowance) that it will cost you extra.

I typed Antimisandry into the address bar and it gave no suggestions as it does with Google so I assumed that I was experiencing what the OP described, however when I later tried pasting the link in the bar it went straight to the sight no problem and it now shows up in my search history as soon as I type the letters A...M

So as I say it is entirely likely that I misunderstood the OP and perhaps someone should explain to me what pin blocking is (please

Recently, I have had a warning page pop up repeatedly on my laptop when I try to come on this and only this site. I thought that it had something to do with this being a new computer, but after reading this thread, I now realize that AM is the only site that this has happened with. Sometimes, I open the site, get the warning page, close it, then try to open a page on AM, and get the warning again, etc.

Not to defend the company, but they could have been trying to block a really bad site and this was simply an unforeseen effect that has since been corrected. ...or the company could be malicious.

There is quite a lot of loose language used on this site, as well as sexual references. It is possible that companies might block it in a too-wide attempt to reduce porn sites over their network, or restrict swearing to under-age children, etc. I know that Vodaphone pay-as-you-go automatically put on both sexual content and language blocking and you have to ask them to remove it from your account to access some quite mild web sites.
