Men avoid the wrath of women with free 'time of the month' reminders

Are they having a laugh, or will thousands of us be signing up!!!!!!

Fretting boyfriends need never worry about upsetting their girlfriend during that particular time of the month with the help of a new reminder system.

PMSbuddy.com was established to help men to "be prepared and aware when it's the difficult time of the month for many women," according to its website.

Creator Jordan Isenberg said: "The site can text and email you with a reminder that the time of the month is on the way so you can be prepared for all events."

The system allows the user to enter the PMS details of five different women for free.

"I am going straight on to that site. My girlfriend is like a pitbull at that time of the month," said one user.

Another man said that when his girlfriend has her "lady's time", he keeps a safe distance. "It's like the house is riddled with landmines: one wrong step and the whole place goes up," said James in Clonskeagh, "Tread softly, gents. Very, very softly."

But women were not so happy with the idea of the site. "This site is making us sound like monsters," said a lady called Trish. "Guys, get over it, it's only once a month. Deal with it, you all have it so easy."

However, the site gives men a bit of an insight into how a woman might feel.

The website advises: "First and foremost, don't ask: 'Do you have PMS? It sure seems like it!' whenever she isn't being a perfect angel."

One woman claimed that her boyfriend had set up five reminders to his phone, one for her, one for his boss and the rest for his sisters.

"The fact he hasn't had a plate, pen or cup thrown at him in months means it must be working," Jane from Drumcondra went on to reveal.

Actually, you might think it's funny but it's not such a bad idea.

For my ex-boyfriend (when we were still together), I created an Excel spreadsheet that indicated not only the "start date" of my next menstrual period, but showed a graph of the four day period BEFORE the period...the time when PMS (and all of it's related conditions) were likely to be at their peak...thereby giving full warning.

Seemed like a good idea at the time. I know how emotional I get, and how combative I am during that time, and it's been my experience that no one can "tell" me I'm acting irrationally when I'm irrational. It doesn't go over very well. Best then, to avoid me completely during that four day period. The chart was as much for my own reference as it was for his...I knew then when I should retreat ...isolate myself, for his own good and for mine.

Seem extreme? It is. But effective. I don't want to take medications for my hormonally induced depressions. The extreme depression (and physical symptoms that accompany it) resolves itself within a few days.

"Civilization can only revive when there shall come into being in a number of individuals a new tone of mind, independent of the prevalent one among the crowds, and in opposition to it- a tone of mind which will gradually win influence over the collective one, and in the end determine its character. Only an ethical movement can rescue us from barbarism, and the ethical comes into existence only in individuals."

    Hi Tera,

Well I have say well done for being honest and actually commenting on it. I agree it may be a good idea, but my mobile would never stop going as I think my partner suffers these hormonal moods 365 days a year. No, I`m not kiddin!!!!

Is there ever a real reason to say 'watch out for me when I feel like this'? All I'm seeing here is gender-specific passive aggression.
Feminism purports to concern itself only with equality - but in reality propagates mistrust, tension and hatred between the sexes.

Been there....just keep smiling (it drives them nuts )
The men's and fathers' movement needs to make sure it never sees females as the enemy,
but only misandry--whether from females or from males.
If not, we'll become like the bigoted feminists that this movement was formed to oppose.

There's a lot of talk in the article about 'cups & stuff' being thrown 'at them' (the guys)... Doesn't that constitute domestic violence, intimate partner violence and the such? And then one woman suggests men should 'deal with it' because we have it 'easy'?

    Sheeesh.

C'mon feminism - you're the upholder of all things right! Get on these women's cases and remind them that throwing cups is abuse... that blaming the victim is wrong, and all that!!!

Oh wait - it's men... that's right luvvies, turn a blind eye - like you always do.

The most offensive thing you can do to a feminist is treat her with FULL equality.
Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

Yep, that's a bunch of crap. Emotional or not, it's no excuse for violent behavior. PMS does not give one cart blanche to behave abominably.
"Every noble impulse, every unselfish expression of love; every brave suffering for the right; every surrender of self to something higher than self; every loyalty to an ideal; every unselfish devotion to principle; every helpfulness to humanity; every act of self-control; every fine courage of the soul, undefeated by pretense or policy, but by being, doing, and living of good for the very good’s sake—that is spirituality." -David O. One day we will have a 'Compleat History of World Exploration' with the thesis that men went off to the Jungles and Deserts and Oceans, even the snowy wastes, just to escape PMS.

So that's why the Vikings sailed to America.....

One thing I´d like to add. PMS is no excuse for treating anyone like shit.

    Indeed!

And I'd like to add: men should not use "PMS" as an excuse to invalidate a woman's thoughts, feelings, or behaviors. Not every feeling of anger, sadness, or frustration is a hormonal mood swing.

I'd also like to add one thing to that...one thing.

Just because women have PMS doesn't mean they can't control them. Yes, there are chemical imbalances and mood swings that change their behavior, but I doubt it's something that controls their minds. I mean, how many women here can still work or do something socially while on PMS? Seriously, women always seem to be bitching about PMS, yet why aren't they doing something about it? If they have the conscious mind to admit they're on PMS, they can control in one way or another instead of letting it fling themselves around wildly. Like if there was some invisible ghost poking into your brain, which makes you do things you don't want to do, when you realize that it's a ghost doing it, would you not find a way to protect your mind?

There are medications...anti-depressants for the most extreme cases. Most people don't fall into the category of "extreme cases." I do. And I protect my significant others by staying away from them as much as possible. (I don't want to take anti-depressants.) I don't want my blue moods, extreme emotional sensitivity, and irritability to create misery for others. It's not that hard to stay silent. Yes, I have to go to work, have to go to school, even on days when I am most affected by my hormones...and on those days I get tears in my eyes sometimes...just hearing a sad story. I'm tired, and I try to act like nothing's bothering me but it's hard to cover up. Some people can tell there's something wrong.
