Male dv victim in soap no help message
Before we start I know Corrie is fiction.
But once again we see a male victim of domestic violence treated as entertainment wit no "If you have been affected by Tyrone's story contact etc..."
I will be taking issue with ITV Granada on the morrow and will let you know the probable bs response I'll no doubt get

Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

Re: Male dv victim in soap no help message
Soaps are notorious for their misandry. All the male characters are negative sexist stereotypes, consistently showing men as bad, stupid or weak in one way or another. The main plot lines also regularly show women trouncing men, out-thinking or out-doing them, proving themselves superior in every walk of life, and committing every kind of emotional abuse against them with impunity. Because of course all the men deserve it. For the abuse to spill over into violence is just an extension of the same message: if it's OK to insult men, it's OK to hit them too.

Re: Male dv victim in soap no help message
Imaginary message for UK television:
"If you are a man and have been a victim of domestic violence (titter) then you could always (laugh) try to find a place to go and stay. After all, there are six of them in the country. Six beds dedicated to male victims, that is - in Wales. Since male victims are so rare, that should be quite enough for everyone."
(If you are a male victim of domestic violence, please DO try to get help. There ARE people who want to help. You can write on the public forum here or contact one of the few charities that exists - the best national one is probably Mankind. If you contact a charity and they seem to treat you with less than respect, you will have called one of the feminist-run ones that only pretends to help men. You deserve respect as well as help, so please make sure you get it.)

Ok update been on to Granada Corrie office and yep you guess it a bullshit response "If we feel it warrants a helpline message well put one up but if we don't we won't and anyway Tyrone can just simply walk away!!!!!" what a Wa$%er this pillock was, did not even know there were refuge place and just didn't want to know he did get flustered when I told him that as per usual male victims were being held up as a joke and a laughing stock and just there to feed the anti male misandrist with in the tv industry also he said only the BBC had the role of educating as they (ITV) were for entertainment purposes.
Didn't spell check re edited it

Coronation Street Blog: Video: Alan Halsall and Natalie Gumede on Corrie abuse story
My comment:On this morning's BBC One Breakfast television programme Alan Halsall and Natalie Gumede, who play Tyrone Dobbs and Kirsty Soames on Coronation Street, were interviewed about Corrie's male domestic abuse story.
Natalie explains Kirsty's abusive nature is because of her father's abuse to her when she was a child and from betrayal by fellas during her life.

Re: Male dv victim in soap no help message
Try saying the same to a woman who's abused and you'll be treated like an ogre!
I saw this plot bubbling up a while back (don't watch soaps myself, but see occasional snippets) and I was quite surprised they were even going to broach the issue. It is ridiculous that a piece of fiction, prompts MP's to speak about a character being jailed and helpline messages put up at the hint of anything controversial, but apparently male targeted abuse doesn't qualify as apparently it doesn't exist.
So they are trying to tell me I imagine the lifelong scars on my body, the household objects used as weapons against me in the past, wow, what a powerful imagination I have!
That seems to be the consensus in society. Myself and most logical people fail to see how a man slapping a woman is heinous and vile, yet a woman slapping a man is amusing, judgemental, acceptable punishment, empowering, etc.
Many times, I feel there is little hope for the western world with it's warped morality.

Etc.
And this leads us to conclude that no-one is really guilty of domestic violence at all: we should only ever blame our ancestors.____________________________________________
