'As a jury at the trial of Rosie Waggett returned the unanimous guilty verdict, after deliberating for less than an hour yesterday, the 18-year-old fell to the floor, crying uncontrollably.
Mr Muir said: She said she didn't have any money, so I asked how she was going to pay for the taxi. She said, "well if he (the taxi driver) asks me about the money I'll just say he tried to rape me."'

I tried to post a comment on this article but it wont let me for some reason .... anyway, this is in my home town so im pleased the jury reached the right verdict in good time .... i just hope the judge holds his nerve and sends her down for a good stretch (i wont hold my breath).

The judge seemed realy down on her. Does the same judge that presids over the trial do the scentencing in the U.K.?

Whilst it's a good result and there are some good comments to the article, what annoys me is how so many people - especially women - condemn her only for the fact that false accusations can harm genuine rape victims; never mind the foremost issue of the poor guy who could have gone down for years, and whose reputation may never recover from the accusation. Only a care in the world when WOMEN stand to be negatively affected by something.

As other people on the article have (pleasingly) said, she should go down for as long as the man would have, had he been convicted; let the punishment fit the crime.

You could say this about a great many of Men's Rights issues; especially the male birth control pill. The issue is always framed as "why should women carry the burden of birth control" and as such can be easily perverted to: "men are irresponsible pigs who will forget to take it or lie about it." (Yea women never do those things)
We can no longer allow women's groups to dominate the dialogue on these matters and the most important thing about finding our voice is winning back the argument and making it our own; because it is our own!

Mr Afsar was cleared of any wrongdoing and in September last year, a jury found Miss Waggett guilty of perverting the course of justice. She was sentenced to eight months' custody.

Her sentence should of been exactly the same as he would of received, had he been proven to be guilty.

Eight months is a long time considering you can steal a car, be found guilty, and do less time than that for it.

Actually, given the fact that her false allegations caused an assault to take place this is a rare case of where her sentence should be even longer than that of a sex offenders.

Of course that this is only a false sexual assault case rather than a full false rape case, so really she shouldn't be facing any more than five or six years ( and only that long due to all the aggravating aspects of the case)

You got that right Bro but soon(sonner then they exspect) their meal ticket will come to an end and they will have to pay the bills that have been piling up becuase of their filthy life style and men will refuse to bare the cost of their wickedness with it come time to pay up
