Iowa Woman Wins $1.5 Million in Lawsuit Against Man She Claims Infected Her with HPV

From Fox News: Iowa Woman Wins $1.5 Million in Lawsuit Against Man She Claims Infected Her with HPV

A Muscatine woman has won $1.5 million in a lawsuit she filed against a man she claims infected her with a sexually transmitted disease.

Karly Rossiter filed the lawsuit against Alan Evans, of Muscatine, claiming he told her he was free of any sexually transmitted diseases before they began dating in December 2004. A few days after they had sex, Evans asked Rossiter if she had been tested for the human papilloma virus, which causes genital warts.

The lawsuit alleged that she learned in 2005 that she might have the virus and later began showing symptoms.

Her attorney, Jeff Tronvold, said she underwent a surgical procedure and is now symptom free but there are no guarantees it won't return and she will remain a carrier.

Evans attorney, Michael Koury, of Davenport, declined comment.

    Reasons why this scares me:
    - Why is he named (and shamed as a transmitter of stds) while she stays anonymus?
    - For males there are no FDA-approved tests for general screening, since the testing is inconclusive and considered medically unnecessary. So even if he wen´t to a doctor to get checked they wouldn´t check for HPV. It can be dificult to see this warts with the eye as well.
    - How can they be sure he infected her with HPV? This is a very common STD for women: According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), by the age of 50 more than 80% of American women will have contracted at least one strain of genital HPV. It is commonly transmited by sex BUT it can be transmited by shared usage of towels, glasses or toothbrushes as well.
    - 1.5 MILLION $ isn´t that a bit much? Can he sue the person he got this from as well?
The men's and fathers' movement needs to make sure it never sees females as the enemy,
but only misandry--whether from females or from males.
If not, we'll become like the bigoted feminists that this movement was formed to oppose.
