International study singled out the British welfare state as an example of failure

Strong families make successful children, not the nanny state, says study | Mail Online
The welfare state has little or no bearing on how children turn out, an international research project has found.
Strong families are the key to producing well adjusted and successful youngsters, it adds.
In fact, say the researchers, the children of married parents are likely to do better than those from broken or single-parent families – no matter how much state support the family is given.
The study singled out the British welfare state as an example of the failure of state support to make a difference to the lives and success of children.

The objective of the state was never to contribute to the success of children.

I don't know that I agree with this, I believe the state was trying to improve the children's lives by offering various support packages... That it has gone pear-shaped doesn't mean it was the intent of the government.

The most offensive thing you can do to a feminist is treat her with FULL equality.
Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

What's "welfare state"? Does it mean "giving food to poor people"? I'm having a hard time believing that that is not a good thing. Finding that a kid is better off with a father is not the same thing as finding that kids without one would be better off without food.

The state cannot (yet) micromanage the family to the same degree of efficiency or effectiveness as the old style "patriarchal" father and his highly loyal and capable good lady wife used to be able to.. (As long as dad spent more time with the family than in the pub.. Alcohol abuse was in many ways the downfall of the good old patriarchal ways in the lower classes and led to many problems before methodism and welfare statism became popular movements)..

It is impossible for "employed" folks to be able to dedicate themselves to serving the needs of kids as well as the parents who have a vested interest in raising their own 24/7..

Do we need a social worker in every family home watching over us?

And if we do, why are these social workers so bloody inept?

Probably because they are the otherwise unemployable failures of the previous generations education system..
