I'm glad to hear there are Libertarians over there too. The more we get in office the better. No politician is perfect but a way better choice than the other fools out there.

I am not sure how "libertarianism" works in the UK.. This party looks very new.. I recall there being a libertarian group in the UK, but they did not approve of "party politics" or something like that..

I guess there is something paradoxical about a group that wants to see the end of much government, using the mechanisms of the state to try and achieve it..

But it needs to be done if the system can be scaled back.. Although perhaps it is better that the "main parties" start to take on libertarian attitudes by recognising when they work best?

Re: Great article on fathers and parenting issues by UK libertarian party

The article says things that we are very, very familiar with. The same facts have been aired on this forum, and plenty of others, for many years now. Steadily, more and more people are hearing and passing on the message.

But why is it that the very last people to listen and take notice, are the ones who make the laws? Why are our politicians the slowest learners, the most intractable enemies of necessary change? What is it about people who go into mainstream politics, that they are the dumbest, the most spiteful and the most shallow? Does grubbing for votes necessarily turn you into someone who is more than willing to hurt others, again and again, in order to gain power for yourself? Or do you have to be that kind of person to begin with, and that makes you especially suited to the dirty business of party politics? It really does seem to be a particular type that goes in for public life; the most ruthless, ambitious and deceitful get to the top, while thousands of others without the nous or the cunning, fill the lower ranks in the agencies and departments of the state machine, and become the foot soldiers of oppression - not as powerful as the ruling elite, but still possessed of the same inhumanity and pleasure at inflicting pain on others, and happy to take the state's wages for doing so.

Given this looks very much like the Freeman of the Land business, I'm surprised CD isn't getting into it.

The most offensive thing you can do to a feminist is treat her with FULL equality.
Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."
