Makes men wealthier? For richer or poorer: Why divorce makes men wealthier - but women are left worse off
By Emily Andrews
Women face a serious risk of being plunged into poverty after divorce – whereas men are often better off financially, a study has revealed.
Fathers in particular are left significantly wealthier, with their average available income increasing by a third. This is because most children live with their mothers after divorce.
The research was carried out by Professor Stephen Jenkins, a director of the Institute for Social and Economic Research.
His survey, called Marital Splits and Income Changes over the Longer Term, is the first to track the changing wealth levels in Britain associated with divorce.
He found that the incomes of divorced or separated men rise 'immediately and continuously' in the years following a marital split.
On average, male incomes rise by 25 per cent, whereas women's fall by a fifth, even when children are not involved.
Professor Jenkins said: 'The differences between the sexes are stark,' adding that it was often 'a parent thing' with the research showing huge differences in the effect of divorce on mothers and fathers.
Ruth Smallacombe, from law firm Family Law in Partnership, said: 'The general belief that men get fleeced by their divorces while women get richer and live off the proceeds has long been due for exposure as a pernicious myth.
'In reality, women often suffer economic hardship when they divorce.
'In addition, the resentment caused by unfair financial settlements has many knockon effects, damaging ongoing relationships with former spouses and a woman's ability to move on with her life.'
The latest research found that, when a man leaves a childless marriage, his income immediately rises on average by 25 per cent.

Re: Divorce makes women poorer and men wealthier
What a fucking ridiculous assertion.
Right, so a man no longer has the expenses of his former family (really????)..
He no longer has his fucking house either.. I guess that is not counted?
Looking at how they have worded this bullshit, it is easy to see why they propogate this nonsense..
A mothers state benefits based income of £300 per week is of course not regarded as "disposible income", whereas a mans earned income of £200 per week is regarded as 50% disposible..
Fucking cunts. ( I reserve the use of the "c" word for those parasites who most richly deserve it for their manipulative abuse of statististics to promote a fundamentally dishonest agenda at the expense of men and fathers)..

Again we have so called experts and thinkers take the piss I am afraid there seems no way forward but for a complete revolt against governments and their state empires, viva the revolution.

Re: Divorce makes women poorer and men wealthier
Its statistical skullduggery of course..
The more you look at it, the more you start to sense that someone has stretched your pecker so long its ready to snap..
Right, so lets just think abouty that shall we?He found that the incomes of divorced or separated men rise 'immediately and continuously' in the years following a marital split.
On average, male incomes rise by 25 per cent, whereas women's fall by a fifth, even when children are not involved.
Sir has had all his property taken from him and is now at zero level.. there is only one way up isnt there?
And since he no longer has any reason to go home at night, well, how wonderful that he can work longer hours!
Madam has found herself suddenly minted, and what do women do when they suddenly have an excess of cash?
Yes, they blow it..
Thats why they find a year later that they want more, and if sir wont provide, he cant see his kids!

This varies by socioeconomic level, greatly.

Re: Divorce makes women poorer and men wealthier
I think the figures have been distorted to paint a picture of male privilege and female suffering - as usual. I'm sure that there are differences between socioeconomic groups, but the working class men I've known have actually had a proportionately bigger drop in income than someone like Paul McCartney, even though his cost £24.3m.

Re: Divorce makes women poorer and men wealthier
Yeah I would think in general that the higher you go in socioeconomic terms the "less worse off" both people are, because either both have substantial incomes or there is a substantial wealth transfer at the time of the divorce, in absolute terms rather than relative terms.
But yes, something is cooky about those numbers. I don't know one guy who was better off financially after divorce if there were children involved.

Re: Divorce makes women poorer and men wealthier
What a load of bullshit. What does income mean? Example a married couple has a monthly income of 3000€. He earns 2000€ she earns 1000€.
So I guess the way they calculate is by averaging the family income. So he earns 1500€ while she earns 1500€.
After the divorce, wonder oh wonder, he earns 33% more money (2000€) while she earns 33% less money (1000€).
Is alimony and co calculated into this? I can´t even believe someone is really making an article out of this rubbish. HELLO YOU EARN MORE WHEN YOU DIVORCE? Is there a divorce bonus they pay you at work? This doesn´t make any sense. "Oh you were divorced? Here I raise your wages"

Re: Divorce makes women poorer and men wealthier
Awwwwwww, bless! Excuse me a minute, guys, whilst I wipe a tear from my eye, and look for my friggin' violin! Damages a WOMAN'S ability to move on with her life; never a man's, ever, only a woman's. Why do I get the feeling that, if comparing the suicide rates between men and women, following divorce, that a strangely different picture would be painted.......? And are they here saying that the resentment comes from women (who, apparently, are worse off, following divorce), or are they contradicting themselves, and saying it's from men?
Quote from The stupid article
What, he suddenly gets a promotion, at work, based on the fact he's got divorced? Or more likely he suddenly doesn't have a wife spending his money, and to pay for?
Quote from The stupid article
Of course, if not considering general divorce settlements, men, in general, will be better off after leaving relationships, and women worse off; precisely because the whole dating/relationship scene benefits WOMEN financially, to begin with, and hence men are worse off IN relationships, financially, and women, better off. Besides: isn't it true that around 90% of women marry upwards? Why, then, SHOULDN'T most men end up better off, after marriage? Why the fuck should an ex-wife continue to enjoy the raised living standards she enjoyed, whilst married?
Poor ickle oppressed womyn! I'm just off to weep into my pillow, now..........hang on, did I say that right? No, what I meant was, PUKE INTO MY FUCKING SICK BUCKET, AT WHAT IS YET ANOTHER SICKENINGLY-BIASED-SACK-OF-SHIT-OF-AN-ARTICLE.

Re: Divorce makes women poorer and men wealthier
And I am suing you. I just talked to my lawyer and he assures me that I´ll get LOTS OF MONEY HEHEHEHEHEHE $_$
Now back to reality. I remembered a study on the same subject and the reaction of German MRAs.
Studys they talk about were the "OECD Growing Unequal 2008" and "EU Study on Income and living Conditions". The important error, alimony payment and child support payments were not included on the giving site. THEY ASSUME THIS MONEY just ceates itself assuming the divorced father STILL OWNS THAT MONEY.
Riduculos. It wouldn´t surprise me if the same calculation is done in England as it all depends on how you define that income. If anybody has that study at hand, please show me. I couldn´t find it online.Disclaimer:The men's and fathers' movement needs to make sure it never sees females as the enemy, but only misandry--whether from females or from males. If not, we'll become like the bigoted feminists that this movement was formed to oppose.Glenn Sacks

"Civilization can only revive when there shall come into being in a number of individuals a new tone of mind, independent of the prevalent one among the crowds, and in opposition to it- a tone of mind which will gradually win influence over the collective one, and in the end determine its character. Only an ethical movement can rescue us from barbarism, and the ethical comes into existence only in individuals."

Re: Divorce makes women poorer and men wealthier
Chris keys sent an email round his forum telling the punters to stop referring to women as "cunts" as a blanket statement as it does not look good, so I guess if chris does not think its necessary, then its probably not..
It is allegedly the worst swear word possible, though I personally would prefer it to being called someomes "partner"..

Re: Divorce makes women poorer and men wealthier
the word refers to the ornery nature typical of womyn about 90% +
viz eternal whining , ingrates. spite, urgers and whistle blowers
the Family Court is inspired by their character
so some outspoken men refer to womyn as c...ts
that is to their essential defining symbolic part of womyn redolent of their nature
the biggest insult one man can apply to another ( apart from the child molester label) is to call the other a c...t hanging the above undesirable traits of most womyn on his head
how low can one man go
as low as a c...t

Re: Divorce makes women poorer and men wealthier
Divorce makes men wealthier? Oh please! Not from what I've seen! If anything it makes them poorer, but this article stinks to high heaven to me. It's nothing more than propoganda. Number one, it's written by a WOMAN. That's a sure clue. Number two, even if a man ISN'T paying alimony - I still don't see how divorce would make him any wealthier. I'd like to find out the REAL numbers.
