Australia: "Orgasm case" against gynaecologist dismissed
This fake orgasm cost this woman in the pocket book. Excerpt:
'A woman who accused her gynecologist of giving her "leg buckling" orgasms during an examination has had her case dismissed and been ordered to pay her doctor damages of around $55,000.
Bibi Giles' case and credibility fell apart after a second doctor came forward and said she had tried to seduce him.
Ms Giles, 50, dropped her case after hearing the doctor was prepared to give evidence, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
In her case against gynecologist Angus Thompson, she accused him of touching her in a sexual manner in 2006.
...
He wrote a letter of complaint to the Medical Defence Union before his patient announced she was suing him for sexual harassment.
Dr Thompson was fully exonerated in court and will return to work.'

Do we need to have security cameras in exam rooms now to protect doctors from false accusations?!

Re: Australia: "Orgasm case" against gynaecologist dismissed
Video camera? Not a bad idea although I can see howls of protest at the very suggestion. Apparantly a nurse was present at the examination in which the Dr was supposed to have 'assaulted' the woman.
It is ludicrous.
But will the 'plaintiff' be charged with false accusation, perjury and wasting Court time?
No chance.
The only recourse for the Dr is to sue the woman for defamation. He is likely to win, but only at the cost of a huge outlay and in the knowledge that he would get no compensation at all as she is unlikely to have any money or assets.
She gets away with it.

Well now Percy, I wouldn't exactly call being ordered to pay $55, 000 in damages "getting away with it"...

She may not have technically "got away with it", but what she did get away with, was getting to court with this bullshit even though he had a nurse but a foot away from the apparent incident, yet she still gets to take him to court and attempt to ruin his reputation, she should not have gotten that far.

Re: Australia: "Orgasm case" against gynaecologist dismissed
That cases like these are allowed to be brought to court in such manner is a disgrace on it's own. But even with his reputation 'cleared', I'm sure there are still plenty dumb folks who still remain anxious and believe that he just got off the hook and only think about the 'what if he really did that? They don't bring those things to court for no reason, right?'. Such accusations don't get cleared just like that, they remain ingraved...

""'A woman who accused her gynecologist of giving her "leg buckling" orgasms during an examination has had her case dismissed and been ordered to pay her doctor damages of around $55,000.""
this illustrates what natural born malicious liars wimyn are !
and she wanted to "sue" him for her experiencing an orgasm- i would rather assume she would sue for some sort of injury or incompetance but for experiencing
an orgasm WTF

Re: Australia: "Orgasm case" against gynaecologist dismissed
I'd say a reputation is worth a reputation...nothing else really has the same value, as far as I can see. But no matter what is done to Ms Giles, the doctor won't get his reputation back, so her punishment is somewhat irrelevant to his reputation. I'm sorry if it looked like I was saying she got what she deserved, she obviously has not, but she still got something, and as such has not completely gotten away with it.
Now, if I was the one deciding her punishment, I'd arrange for her reputation and her credibility to be dragged in the mud and shot. As a matter of fact, if I had control over the court systems, I'd have false accusations be one of the most serious crimes in the book, since they attempt to pervert the course of justice to condemn innocents. Also, if I had control, I'd make sure to have plenty of positive media attention on the doctor, in this case, so that he would have some of his reputation back (I don't think he'll ever get everything back, but no legal power can make that happen, so we'll have to settle for some). So yeah, here's what I'd do for reputations and the worth I give them.
