Irish Independent article on Alpha Males

"The face of Charles Bronson - so tough you could break a frying-pan on it"

[ The caption encourages misandry in the usual way it is found in feminist literature: imagery of physical violence against men. ]

    "Return of the Alpha Male"

The female-market orientated Irish Independent features a satirical article on the topics on men's rights activism, feminism and anti-feminism today. A journo called Darragh McManus penned the piece. I am not familiar with this guy but he is certainly capable of towing the feminist Party Line and he has no originality to bring to the table.

Here's a quote from the opening paragraph. It continues on in the same condescending, female-appeasing tone throughout, as you might expect:

Many men now feel lost, emasculated by modern society, the little lambs. They must somehow struggle to survive in a female-dominated world, adapting to new expectations and demands, and many suffer great upset because of this.
The comments below are interesting. Some are from men who express concern - not in the idiotic terms of McManus, but in intelligent language - about the marginalisation of men in Matriarchal society, which is the kind of society that exists right throughout the West. There is indeed an underground knowledge among men about feminism - it's just that in our current culture of pro-female political correctness it doesn't normally get expressed.

A sad fact of life in Ireland today is the shockingly high numbers of men comitting suicide, or killing themselves and others as a result of crime, drugs and drink.

This trite attempt to laugh off the very real concerns that all men should have about living in a society which has elevated feminist issues to almost hallowed status, while ignoring or belittling their equally legitimate problems is neither honest nor helpful.

Have a think about that next time you feel inclined to laugh at the notion of men feeling alienated and confused to the point of despair. Thnik about it next time you read about yet another man lying dead on a slab, his life either wasted or unfullfilled. There's your "little lambs" and "poor babies" that you mock with your jokey "sympathetic tears".

Wake up and open your eyes to the real world. Do some decent journalism on the subject if you can, or turn your face away if you can't. But don't try and insult people by pretending it's funny.

Also pitching in is "Martina". Just when you think a modern woman may have something useful and non-feminist to say...

This article is so embarrassingly unfunny, it almost hurts to read it. Whatever happened to normal men?

    She doesn't...

Looks like nowadays we either can choose from the artificially created pseudotypes, such as metrosexual or returned alpha-male or the creators of these pseudotypes who seem to be so insecure about themselves they need to analyze their own gender to death.

Really. And what about "independent women", "feminist women", "Amazonian women" - females do their level best to both propagate and identify with these archetypes. Are they too wrong in subscribing types for other members of their sex to aspire to?

She is wrong in thinking the journalists who introduced the word "metrosexual" (which essentially translates to weak, deferential male, and is a corrupt wordform too) into our vocabulary were men with insecurities about themselves, or their place in society as men. No, they were simply serving the female market, no doubt trying to pen some sort of smart-ass intellectually-zero article like the one in today's Independent.

Furthermore, "alpha male" has a totally different origin altogether, and describes the strong male in different species of animals who is preferred by females for insemination. The term has come about from proper scientific observation. Naturally it does apply to humans as well - and the alpha male behaves differently in our society. But the essential characteristics and female preference for them remain the same. The point being "alpha male" is not just a useless journo-invented term; it has substance.

(Mz Martina might also note "gender" is the incorrect word to use. In the context of men and women, the word "sex" should always be used.)

Blogs such as this have spurred this article by the Independent to be written. How else could it be? There is no anti-feminism in the mainstream press (UN Media Monitoring would start complaining if there was), there are no anti-feminist or pro-male TV shows or films (as male audiences are abandoned for the almighty female consumer). There are no pro-male politicians; being completely non-existent in Establishment political parties.

It can quite simply be only MRA blogs and websites that are causing this "reaction" from the effeminate media.

Darragh McManus is definitely a member of the Emasculated Wimp Society (EWS). Maybe someone can keep an eye on the predictable trash he will inevitably churn out. That would require you following that useless rag of a newspaper in the first place, however.

Additional confirmation of McManus' Galli-ness: An article from April 2006 clearly defending feminism and ignoring the facts. It laments how the word "feminism" now has somewhat negative connotations, which is precisely why women nowadays don't outwardly identify as feminists, even when in most cases they are. It's clear that his anti-male sentiment in this Independent article is no flash in the pan, and he's actually an ideological feminist.

The same blind obedience towards feminism/the women's movement is found in today's article, except it is coded differently. One commenter has it spot on; it's not to hard to sense these things, even when they are coded behind satire:

Perhaps McManus you have some deep hatred of men? Some deep loyalty to your sisters. Are you feeling guilty about something McManus?Or do you wish you were Charles Bronson McManus?

I've met the type before. He's almost certainly in a relationship with a feminazi and looks for approval by towing the feminist line. I'm sure some of the things he says are just parotted lines from his girlfriend. There are thousands of men like this in the media, advertising and even the government.

A lot of the men with 'power' and a 'voice' are our worst enemies.

Predictable bile I find Irish feminists particularily pampered and spoilt. Newspapers are fit only for burning. I left a comment I doubt it will get published
feminism is a disease the Doc is working on a cure. Symptoms include compulsive liar, constant aggression, allergic to logic, often affects women who are fat with short hair and big earings, but can be normal looking.
Reason tablets three taken daily. If the sufferer displays shaming tactics double the dose. Remarkably the illness disappears in disaster zones.
