We've decided to get a PS3. I don't know if anyone who isn't me cares, but having heavily researched the subject, I thought I'd post my findings concerning the differences between the 40, 60 and 80 GB models. ![]() Now, the 60 GB is going to be gone soon. The most notable difference between it and the 40 and 80 gig models is that it's equipped with a chip that makes it 100% backwards compatible. This is the only difference (aside from 20 gigs) between it and the 80 GB. The 80 GB is supposed to be about 75% backwards compatable using a software emulation program. From my understanding, though, the 75% figure is a bit optimistic. The 60 and 80 GB are the same price. Next comes the 40 GB. This model also uses a software emulation program but it is inferior to the one used in the 80 GB. While the 80 GB is supposed to be 75% backwards compatible, the 40 is supposed to be 50%. However, everyone I've talked to tells me they haven't been able to get ANY PS2 games to play on it. Other differences between the 40 compared to the 60 and 80 GB; less gigs, two less USB ports, no flash card slots and $100. We decided to hurry and get the 60 GB before they're all gone as they're the only models that come with 100% backwards compatilbility. ![]() PS3 is something my boys want and it is pretty cool. It plays via broadband Internet and can play all PS games and DVDs. So I have learnt before owning one. From the words of others I have heard it is a headache. You need to download software and once you start doing this there are problems as far as I am concerned. Everyone jumps on the bandwagon to make money. Plus you need more gadgets (hardware). It is never ending to keep on top once you play games on the Internet. That is just my opinion. My kids have all as far as I am concerned and if I keep them in this life style they will never leave home. And I will never be a grandmother. Mind you the way males and females are going their own way I will be an old grandma. But I tell you, I am NOT taking care of their kids. (so I say) F**k, I hope they don't get into state care for then I will be doomed like the Grandparents of today. That sucks. I don't work for no return you know. ![]() When I left home with child and man I had nothing. Not even a washing machine. And I remember a girlfriends child saying to me, "You haven't got a video and your TV is black and white." We worked hard for what we got. Ignorance is the Oppressor, Vigilance the Liberator. | ||||

Hard drives are harddrives - they can be replaced with any size. A friend of mine has a 360 and he dropped a stupidly gigantic drive in his, filled it with films and games... and barely ever uses cd's anymore lol

It was a 65 year old lady who got me hooked. I don't play much because when I do, I have to clock the game. It becomes an obsession.

) so we considered picking up an XBox 360 instead, but after comparing, decided to go with the PS3....although I'll admit to being a little biased. Haven't played on my PS2 in aaaaaaaaages. Had it for about 6 years, but barely bought any games for it really. Got my 360 hooked up to my new 40 inch 1080p HD TV at the moment, and I'm loving it.
