Re: Passionate gamers here?

I'm a gamer. I'm most passionate about PC gaming, but I'm not closed-minded about any console.

Primarily a consoler here, but I used to play Quake 3 like a religion on the PC back in the day..

I still play Quake 3, almost every day, but always against the computer. Click and play. Start up a team deathmatch skirmish on nightmare on the camping grounds. Hilarious.

Been playing Crysis this last week. First two thirds of the game were great, then it turned into a linear almost arcade style shooter. Very disappointing. But I'm not sorry I bought it. I'll just replay the first part :-)

I hated BioShock. Repetitive and depressing. Haven't finished it yet.

Re: Passionate gamers here?

My 15 yr old son is heavily into gaming.

He's got ROME TOTAL WAR, MEDIEVAL TOTAL WAR2, SOCOM 3, all the Wolfenstein games, and a CIVIL WAR game from the History Channel.

Incidentally, anyone wanting to save $$ on games can buy them used via Amazon's Marketplace. We got many of ours that way, and its a money saver!

Re: Passionate gamers here?

Yeah, I buy like most of my games from Amazon marketplace.

My PC is too big a piece of shit to handle Crysis and Bioshock, so I'll have to get Bioshock for the 360.

Loved Quake 3 back in the day. Used to play for hours and hours. Played briefly in a CCTF 3wave clan called Kn. We were pretty good until all of our best players fucked off, then I just stopped playing.

The Total War series is absolutely excellent. Can't wait for Total War: Empire.

I bought him ROME TOTAL WAR for only 20 dollars from Scholastic, which is an educational book service available to schoolteachers (and homeschool teachers). They don't even charge for shipping costs!

I got him MEDIEVAL TOTAL WAR 2 and SOCOM 3 used, via Amazon. I got MEDIEVAL TOTAL WAR 2 for 33 dollars (incl. shipping), and SOCOM 3 was around the same price, if I remember.

My son hates school, and these games have awakened a real interest in him, for history (he doesn't even realize he's learning while playing, lol!) He had me dig out all my medieval history books and he keeps asking me questions, such as, "What's a phalanx?", etc

He also has a game about the Spartans, but I forget the name of that one offhand.

Re: Passionate gamers here?

Williams defender.. the 1980's classic, hardest and most demanding game ever invented..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defender_(arcade_game)

Largely responsible for my first hospitalisation under the mental health act, such games boost brain dopamine and when one spends 10 hours of ones life playing such games, and the other 14 hours having sex, well, its just asking for trouble!

Apparently, I had the classic signs of being a crack, amphetamines and LSD abuser..

I was diagnosed as "schizogenic".. Which means basically drug induced schizophrenia, the fact that I never took any drugs seemed to be irrelevant to them..

Intense video games and other such dopamine boosting activities are just as good for getting that "unnatural high"..

I did a 50 hour non stop stint on Grand Theft auto san andreas when it first came out..

Sleep and food are of course completely unnessary features in a gamers life..

Re: Passionate gamers here?

Im a pc gaming fanatic, name a game and Ive probaly played it at least once.Mostly RTS's,RPGs, and FPSs, RPGs are my favorite games though.

The total war series is one of the greatest pc series in history, its what got me really into pc gaming along with empire earth, warcraft iii, homeworld, starcraft, diablo ii....etc etc.

I used to play console games, but I just got sick of them, last console I will have ever owned would be the Wii, and Ive got that stored away, pc gaming for life now.

Re: Passionate gamers here?

Ahh yes the classic Defender.
I use to play til I turned the score over to zero then would get bored with it.

Drex maybe you should play for 8 hours and have sex 15.
I would suggest one hour of sleep though.
