The Real History of America
I know, I will get an infraction for this, but my defense is that I didn't write it. An American did.
And this is just a part !
Not that it will make a difference. But I will apologise before you even start reading.
[QUOTE] Back before the Unites States was an independent nation, people lived in horrific conditions under British rule. The British weren’t providing very good free health care (wait time for a poor person to get an MRI was over 200 years),they were refusing to increase taxes on the rich, and they had very few laws dictating what colonists were allowed to eat, causing many to become obese on the high-fructose maize syrup the Indians taught them to make.
So the colonists kept demanding that the British give them big government to regulate their lives and provide for their basic needs while confiscating all their wealth. “We’re stupid,” they’d cry out to the British. “Please rule us and make us do what you think is best!” But the British kept refusing, saying, “No, you guys are doing okay by yourselves. We want you to have the freedom to run your own lives.”
It was this laissez-faire attitude that led to the Boston Massacre, in which five people died of heart attacks in Boston from eating fatty foods a proper government would never have let them eat in the first place. Finally the colonists had enough of not being bossed around and decided if the British weren’t going to provide them the all-encompassing government they wanted, they had to make it themselves.
They started by throwing tea into the Boston Harbor since they determined it had too much caffeine and people shouldn’t have been allowed to drink it. Then they formed militias to collect more taxes from the colonists to spend on welfare and government works projects. The British tried to strike back by ending regulations and giving tax rebates, but the colonists were now ready to fight to make sure some large entity would tell them what to do. And many were rallied to the cause by Patrick Henry’s cry of “Give me a large government telling me what I can and can’t do while spending most of my money, or give me death!”
Soon,Thomas Jefferson penned the Declaration of Independence, which includes the famous line, “We hold these truths to be revealed after careful study by Ivy League-educated people, that all men are in need of constant care and supervision, that they are endowed by the highly-educated intellectual class with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are free Health Care, strict and expansive Regulations on all activities, and the pursuit of Big Government.”
For these causes the Revolutionary War was fought and won, allowing the colonists to form their own country: the United States of America. And they made a constitution giving the government the right to control its citizens’ activities and wealth and made sure the Constitution had lots of things like the Commerce Clause, which could be broadly interpreted to allow people in the government to do whatever they felt was best, such as force people to buy things. And they added a Bill of Rights, which outlined all the free stuff the federal government was supposed to give everyone in case they were too lazy or stupid to get it themselves.

Re: The Real History of America
Why would you get an infraction for that? It is funny but has the ring of truth to it.
We have idiots here that think the government is the cure to all of our ills. But they just refuse to see that where government has meddled in our private lives it has fouled it all up.Chevalier.

Greed is for amateurs.
Knowledge without wisdom is a load of books on the back of an ass.
Scorn and mockery towards men in need is one of the reasons feminism is dying as we speak!.

Re: The Real History of America
Hay! Hay! The constant anti-Filipino sentiment on this board is getting me down!

It's humid and hot because it's near the equator. Crops grow all the year round. Rum is cheap and the ladies are beautiful.
Some street corners stink because drunk guys urinate there instead of in reservoirs.
Our largest apes are monkeys about the size of cat. The most famous is the nocturnal tarsier -about the size of your fist.
Since most of the country is mountainous, swamps are rare.
But as for the Congo - now you're talking. They're all a bunch of wankers there!!

Re: The Real History of America
I first came to the Phils 16 years ago and I have lived here for 11 years. I have family that I love and lots of close personal friends. Some Filipinos I like, others I don't. I rarely approve of what the government does because even when they are well-meaning, they usually manage to fuck things up. Does that sound familiar to your own personal situation in the US?Yan , thank you for the geography lesson, you know all us white americans are bad at that. I can tell you why I dont like filipinos, but it will have to be in private , or I will get another infraction for giving the world a taste of their own medicine
The "geography lesson" was simply a light-hearted response to your insulting description. If you really wanted to criticize an entire nation you would have used words that showed that you knew more about the country.
If you want to talk privately about some bad experience or experiences that you have suffered at the hands of Filipinos, I will by all means lend a sympathetic ear. But I find it hard to accept that anybody's personal slights are sufficient to condemn a nation of 90 million people. Getting pissed off at one or more individuals is one thing. Transferring that resentment to all who share some common characteristics with the one that offended you is just tribalism.
This forum is "Fun and Humor". Why not reserve it for that?

Re: The Real History of America
They do like it! They love it as their mother country. But when even highly educated professionals earn a pittance, they do what they have to do and go abroad. Every day I coach bright young nurses, doctors and engineers for International English exams so they can get work permits in western nations. Am I contributing to the "brain drain"? Sure! But what's the alternative for them?
Do they use the US like a whore? Maybe, from where you're standing. But where would UK and US hospitals be without a steady influx of Filipino nurses. Understaffed! When it comes to "Homes for the Aged", Filipinas are preferred because in this dysfunctional little corner of the world, old age is still revered. There is no such thing as an Old Folks Home. Where would Middle East construction sites be without relatively cheap Filipino engineers and workmen?
If they have a chance to move back home and "live like kings", good for them! They paid for it with labor and homesickness.
So how about western men that come to the Phils "looking for whores"? Is that OK? Even the ugly, fat, socially inept ones that couldn't get a decent woman in the US can find a beautiful young wife in the Phils by boasting and throwing gold at any minor problem. They also expect to live like kings because their political system has taught them that they are the Lords of the Earth, and Asian women should be grateful for their generosity. Is that fair?
Filipinos are deluged with a regular diet of Hollywood movies that tell them how life in the US is superior to any other place on Earth. How many Americans watch Filipino movies where "family values" are the constant theme? It's a one-way street.
How would you feel if you and your sons had to work on foreign construction sites? How would you feel if your wife was working as a Domestic Helper in Saudi Arabia and your daughters were prostitutes in Japan?
It's no longer "Fun & Humor".

Re: The Real History of America
Not to mention the fact that while I was in the military I have seen Filipinos brought in by Saudi, Kuwaiti, and Iraqi hiring firms for the express purpose of pulling in cheaper labor than what they can hire from their own countrymen. These poor guys are often living in military style tents, or tenement housing, and are restricted to very specific areas within those localities. Many hold contracts for a year or two, and only have each other to depend on for company because of the restrictive laws of the host countries. They are often escorted onto U.S. and NATO FOBs for the purpose of construction, repair, janitorial, and food service and preparation by the truckload, and then transported back off post at the end of the shift. I can vouch for the friendly and hard-working attitude a lot of these guys have, and they show a genuine love for their homeland and for their families. They do put up with some deplorable conditions and jobs just to throw a buck or two home (the employment agencies make a LOT of money from these guys, while still paying them crap).

Re: The Real History of America
Ouch...that's gotta be rough job. I've seen some of that work done here in Texas, It's got to be hell in Mexico.
On the bright side....boy am I glad I have a nice cushy job in my own house during the hottest hours of the day....hold on...............Ah! nice cool lemonade in all this air conditioning.
Off course, working armed security at night is not that fun with 10 flights of stairs across seven buildings...but still...beats the hell out of some of the work I use to do. In places just as interesting, no less.
What's it like in Mexico?

Re: The Real History of America
Another America bashing thread?
Right now my city is waiting for the flood waters coming in from Canada. Mandatory evacuations by tomorrow at 4 PM. Will we get any foreign aid? It's doubtful but for all the American tax dollars that get sent all over the world in aid...I wish the America bashing would stop (if that is what this is). I stopped reading after 5 or so words running together. That's a huge wall of text to waste time on from someone who can't even put spaces between words consistently."If Blizzard expects you to be always online to play their game. Re: The Real History of America
The only problem I have with the US are two things, there women which are just as bad as the mapleskanks here in cknuclehead land and the us govermet, I have mt a few armicain in real life and on such as here that I respect.
As for the Phiilpines I'd love to leve there because most of the women from what I understand are LADIES and not shit bat loony femanazis like in the western nations where men are fairly well respect and that the ladies over there are respected as well and that family means just that and not this broken train wreck of a nightmare in the western/femanazi nations.
If I did not have my family here un CanaDUH and I had a means of making a living over there I'd be one gone cat, faster then can say shazam! When the femanazis tell me it's their way or the highway I tell them to fuck off and die, because at lest the highway leads to new and intresting places, their ways is a dead end.

Re: The Real History of America
I think America bashing is a fuckin' pastime and it got on my last nerve long ago. Sure our government sucks but so does every other western government and probably every non western government too. If American citizens can be bashed because our government sucks then so can every other western nation who has elections. I think we all know that it's stupid to blame people for choosing shit over shit (our election choices) but I am sure that is the justification of the America bashers. We will continue to have shit choices until the next revolution, which is surely coming soon giving our economic state and the natural disasters that are ripping us apart.

Sorry about the words running together. It is something to do with the cut and paste from 'Word' I think, or maybe the ads that appear and squash the column. Or maybe it is just me and a side effect of my national biases.

Re: The Real History of America
It is beginning to be, Garak.
At least I have not said, "Fuck America and Fuck the President" . Some one recently said "Fuck Oz and the UK, and fuck the Queen.
Did you object to that?
Did you ask them if such vile denunciation was funny?
Why not?
