Response to "No place for a lady"

Quote:
Yesterday, I came across an article entitled No place for a lady.

Ever since I read a scathing inspector's report about the conditions in which women in Holloway prison had to live, I have been deeply uneasy about the whole issue of women in prison. The report I read was published sometime in the 1990s. Until then, I hadn't really thought about how women in prison lived. If anything, my belief was that they were treated better than their male counterparts. Naively I thought they enjoyed extra privileges, ate superior food and had more family contact.

So, when he thought that female prisoners enjoyed better treatment than male prisoners, he saw no problem. However, when he discovered that they were treated the no differently, suddenly there was a problem.

I thought the concept of equality was treating people the same, regardless of gender, ethnicity, etc.

Once I realised that women in prison received no special treatment, I often wondered how they managed that strange incarcerated life.

What about the men who have to endure that 'strange incarerated life'?

According to Survivor's Swindon:

Estimates vary, but at least 80% of the Male prison population in the United Kingdom have suffered some form of sexual abuse, either as children or adults, and many men have been subjected to rape and/or sexual abuse within the prison system.

But of course, damning statistics count for nothing if they portray men as victims.

But when Smart Justice polled 1000 people at random across the UK and posed a series of questions, for instance asking what would be the most appropriate form of punishment for a female drug addict caught for a nonviolent crime such as shoplifting, few respondents thought prison was appropriate. If it is wrong to jail female drug addicts for non-violent crimes, then it is also wrong to jail male drug addicts for non-violent crimes.

Almost three-quarters (73%) did not think mothers, particularly those of young children, who commit non-violent crime should be locked up. (Two thirds of women in prison have dependent children and at any one time around 17,700 children are separated from their mothers by imprisonment.)

If it is wrong to jail mothers who commit non-violent crimes, then it is also wrong to jail fathers who commit non-violent crimes.

If the government (and numerous women's groups) were advocating leniency for both male and female criminals, then I would consider giving my support. However, by only supporting alternatives to prison for women who break the law, they are making a mockery of equality.

Re: Response to "No place for a lady"

I think that the whole concept of "what prison is" needs to be reconsidered..

i have some ideas.. some strange ones you may think! very, very radical, but very very interesting!!

Put it this way..

The whole world is a fucking prison!!

This is an extensive site, complete with recommendations to help alleviate the problem of male rape in prisons. Not surprisingly, this isn't the kind of thing you see in the MSM.

Quote:
SlaveryA convicted felon is one whom the law in its humanity punishes by confinement in the penitentiary instead of death . . . . For the time being, during his term of service in the penitentiary, he is a slave of penal servitude to the State.
-- Virginia Supreme Court in Ruffin v. Commonwealth, 62 Va. 790, 796 (1871).
[A]n offender should not and must not, be sentenced to a term of enslavement by gangs, rape and abuse by predatory inmates.
-- Federal district court opinion in Ruiz v. Texas (1999).
[An inmate] claimed me as his property and I didnt dispute it. I became obedient, telling myself at least I was surviving . . . . He publicly humiliated and degraded me, making sure all the inmates and gaurds knew that I was a queen and his property. Within a week he was pimping me out to other inmates at $3.00 a man. This state of existence continued for two months until he sold me for $25.00 to another black male who purchased me to be his wife.
-- E.S., Michigan inmate, October 4, 1996.
Prisoners unable to escape a situation of sexual abuse may find themselves becoming another inmate's "property." The word is commonly used in prison to refer to sexually subordinate inmates, and it is no exaggeration. Victims of prison rape, in the most extreme cases, are literally the slaves of the perpetrators. Forced to satisfy another man's sexual appetites whenever he demands, they may also be responsible for washing his clothes, cooking his food, massaging his back, cleaning his cell, and myriad other chores. They are frequently "rented out" for sex, sold, or even auctioned off to other inmates, replicating the financial aspects of traditional slavery. Their most basic choices, like how to dress and whom to talk to, may be controlled by the person who "owns" them. They may even be renamed as women.(259) Like all forms of slavery, these situations are among the most degrading and dehumanizing experiences a person can undergo.
J.D., a white inmate in Texas who admits that he "cannot fight real good," told Human Rights Watch that he was violently raped by his cellmate, a heavy, muscular man, in 1993. "From that day on," he said, "I was classified as a homosexual and was sold from one inmate to the next."(260) Although he informed prison staff that he had been raped and was transferred to another part of the prison, the white inmates in his new housing area immediately "sold" him to a black inmate known as Blue Top. Blue Top used J.D. sexually, while also "renting" his sexual services to other black inmates. Besides being forced to perform "all types of sexual acts," J.D. had to defer to Blue Top in every other way. Under Blue Top's dominion, no task was too menial or too degrading for J.D. to perform. After two and a half months of this abuse, J.D. was finally transferred to safekeeping.
Another Texas inmate explained the financial dimension that is evident in J.D.'s treatment. According to him, "when they do turn out a guy they actually own them, every penny they get it goes to there man. You can buy a kid for 20 or 30 dollars on most wings!! They sell them like cattle."(261) A third Texas inmate made a similar analogy: "It would amaze you (as it did me) to see human beings bought & sold like shoes."(262)
The testimony of another Texas inmate, describing the rules imposed on him by the prisoner who became his "man," suggests the extent to which these victimized inmates are forced to obey their abusers, sexually and otherwise:
  • "You will clean the house," he said, have my clothes clean and when Im ready to get my "freak" no arguments or there will be a punishment! I will, he said, let my homeboys have you or Ill just sale you off. Do we have an understanding? With fear, misery, and confusion inside me . . . I said yes.(263)
Six Texas inmates, separately and independently, gave Human Rights Watch firsthand accounts of being forced into this type of sexual slavery, having even been "sold" or "rented" out to other inmates. Numerous other Texas prisoners confirmed that the practice of sexual slavery, including the buying and selling of inmates, is commonplace in the system's more dangerous prison units. Although Texas, judging from the information received by Human Rights Watch, has the worst record in this respect, we also collected personal testimonies from inmates in Illinois, Michigan, California and Arkansas who have survived situations of sexual slavery.
Prisoners elsewhere frequently spoke of the phenomenon, suggesting that it is not limited to the states mentioned above. An Indiana prisoner, for example, told Human Rights Watch:
  • most time when a young boy is turned out by a gang, the sole purpose of that is first to fuck the boy especially young boys, once they finish with the boy they are sold to another prisoner for profit, it's big business selling boys in prisons and gang members control this business.(264)
When slavery and involuntary servitude were officially abolished in the United States by the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. constitution, an exception was made for "a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted."(265) At that time, prisoners were considered the "slaves of the state," outside the purview of judicially-enforced constitutional protections. More than a hundred years later, prisoners' legal status has improved. Yet, a different, though equally horrifying, form of slavery continues in U.S. prisons, and the fundamental rights of the victims of these abuses continue to be ignored.

Indeed, prison life is a bummer!!

Apparently, the highest concentrations of pyschopaths are actually found in prisons, some would say perhaps even higher levels than can be found in politics or the "caring" professions or lawyers..

I have heard that tales of prison buggery etc are vastly exagerated in order to give the impression to the gen public that prison is to be avoided at all costs..

Mind you, I dont fancy testing that theory out!!

I have a nice cosy hospital unit waiting for me whenever I get a little OTT on the illegal activities front..

Thats why I always operate within the law in all that I do..

Rule 1.. Dont get caught..!

Re: Response to "No place for a lady"

A most disgusting reality for many young males.

Well I disagree with this one point made in the post "Like all forms of slavery, these situations are among the most degrading and dehumanizing experiences a person can undergo."

Not all forms of slavery were as bad as this, though slavery in itself is wrong. All of the Scots that were caught by Cromwell in the scotish revolution were sold into slavery in New England if they weren't wounded. I found a friends relative who married his masters daughter and was freed. They often worked to pay off the debt in which they were bought. Not too bad for a slavelife.

Other slaves in the US had it as good as any free man.
the history books lie.

Some of my relatives freed their slaves and those slaves went to live with other relatives as their slaves or better yet we could call them hired hands. Not everyone could live off the land and make a living. Jobs were scarce unless you were willing to be a maid or field worker on a farm you could easily starve. Their were many slaves back in the day who were treated much better than any prison slave.

Sex slaves in prisons are often laughed at by the bully guards and nobody gives a damn on the inside.

I pity my cousins son who just went to prison for having sex with a immigrant who asked him for sex and to take pictures of her. A mature looking girl of 16 years old who thought of herself as model and had a diary full of sexual liaisons.. Yet they threw the book at him and of course she isn't responsible since she is female. She told the courts that she had initiated everything which didn't matter to the court.

Thomas Jefferson once said "It takes time to persuade men to do even what is for their own good."

Feminuts are stupid, throw some common sense at them. They won't know what hit them.
