One of my readers, Rob Case, contacted Scott Garman, the man behind the Men's Activism Wiki page, and the following is an update on their correspondence: Response from Scott Garman: Hi Rob, thanks for the email. My responses to your questions follow. 1) Do you believe the MensActivism wiki is appropriate as the ultimate encyclopedia of men's rights? I think it has the potential to be if a large enough community isinterested in making it one. I presume you've seen the problems tryingto keep men's issues pages accurate and objective on Wikipedia. As long as a dedicated enough group of people is going to maintain the site, Ithink it might work. 2) What editorial policy and control is currently in play?I don't think I've ever deleted anything on the wiki other than blatantspam and in one case an individual posting their personal story.I should mention up-front that I do not have the time resources toactively manage the site on a daily basis, but I have had good luckdelegating things to motivated people (that's now news.mensactivism.orgis run nowadays). 3) Who would own any content we might add? This is one thing I would feel pretty strong about - I think it shouldbe Creative Commons licensed. Right now I believe it's using theAttribution-ShareAlike license. 4) Are there any other people you can direct me to regarding the Wiki? You can direct your email to admin@mensactivism.org. That goes to amailing list of admins for news.mensactivism.org, who may want to beinvolved in this too. Feel free to forward this to your mailing list. Also, I'll be at theMen's Equality Conference in D.C. next week, if anyone wants to discussideas regarding this with me in person. Scott-- The Men's Activism News Network: http://www.mensactivism.orgDaily News & Info on Men's Rights Issues --- I'd like to thank Rob for contacting Scott on this, and I think further discussion is needed in the Comments section. Personally- I think a major step is to start using the Men's Activism Wiki, and I'd say that we: - Need a few dedicated MRA's, preferably those with spare time, to edit/amend it - Should discuss the layout, content and features to go inside - Review what links are included and to ensure no pro-feminist references are made, as a misconception I want OUT of the Men's Movement is the myth that these traitors are 'one of us'- because they aren't Feel free to discuss this below.
