Just checking today's post, there's an unaddressed bright pink letter with the words "Will you join in the fight?" across the front, so what with me always being up for a fight, I was excited, so I opened it to find it wasn't so much a fight, but another begging, guilt-trip laden charity letter, this time from Cancer Research UK.
On the top of the letter is a bright pink ribbon with the words "Join the fight for women's survival".

The letter is written by a breast cancer survivor, so obviously it's close to her heart, she blabs on and on to lay down a guilt trip, and mentions that 12,000 women die and 300 men are diagnosed each year, the only time men are mentioned.
She then goes on to mention that the money will be used to help victims of cancer, and that we should sport our pink ribbons (comes with the letter, along with a shitty pen) to show that we have joined the fight for women's survival.

Oh it doesn't stop there, God no, also with the letter, they've been kind enough to supply a checklist, also emblazoned with the "Join the fight for women's survival" across half of it, and on it is;
This was home invasion with misandry, I just can't seem to avoid it.

Initially, I wrote shiny pen and somehow I wanted it... Then I saw it says shitty.

I'd write them back and tell them to leech on the government for it since we have universal healthcare in Europe. Isn't it funny in a way that all these people still want money?

Especially in Britain where healthcare is free. It worries me that Cancer Research put a lot of focus on one particular cancer, the one most likely to affect women, it should be all cancer.
I imagine some these people who spend endless hours raising cash for breast cancer research must be diagnosed with lung/throat cancer, I wonder how they feel about that, getting no help because no-one cares about those cancers, after all, they only affect everyone.

"Fight for women's survival"? I guess the six additional years that women live over men just isn't good enough for the poor, oppressed little darlings......

Please tell me you're joking Tera, I mean you do see the discrimination, don't you? There is certainly nothing wrong with what she wants to do (assuming she actually exists), but this woman has a son that she mentions, a son who could get testicular cancer one day, or lung cancer, a non-gendered cancer, yet she only cares about helping women.
And the same goes for prostate cancer, it should be about cancer in general, not gender-specific cancer.

Then again, unlike the desperate for your cash, yet ZERO "financial report" folks cited above , there ARE groups of folks like Jen's Friends. ZERO ($0.00) "tax" dollars, after all, tax dollars aren't voluntary, nor charitable, are they?

Some PRIVATE doofus granted them the cash to cover all the administrative crap, and THEN some, so that ALL the
funds raised by the personal efforts of supporters/participants (Golf, and Hiking?) goes directly to help out the folks in need.
Note: Cash is NOT given directly to recipients, NONE goes to "peripheral", or direct, organizers. See the site, and remember to ask ALL your charities (like um...ANY "popular" ones) about this stuff. If they even stutter at answering, cross 'em off your list.

If fighting for breast cancer and breast cancer only is misandric, then fighting for testicular or porstate cancer only is misogynistic.

Of course no-one has to tell me that breast cancer is over-funded especially when it comes to more dangerous cancers that everyone can get. But misandric that is the wrong word.

The right one is gynocentric.

You know thats something else I never have got is, when someone gets cancer (or has a family member die from it) why do they raise funding for only that specific kind of cancer? You know what that is? Its a big slap in the face to other people with OTHER kinds of cancer...You might as well put a commercial on TV or send them a letter that says "this cancer is worse than the one you got so....Sorry about your luck!"...

Seeing as how any one kind of cancer is still a relatively SMALL problem by it self wouldn't it make more sense to make one big assed fund to support --->PEOPLES<--- fight against CANCER in general, not this biased "Join the fight for women's survival". BS?

It's her attitude that is the problem, more than her actions. She specifically, numerous times, singles out "women", as if they're some sort of high-priority minority of sorts. Pedantic as it may sound, given that men are MORE likely than women to die of cancer, this overspending on female-specific cancers IS sexist.

With the greatest level of respect, it's probably hard for you to imagine things from 'our' point of view. Imagine if you were constantly bombarded with shit about 'prostate/testicular cancer', frequently happening across collections for 'prostate/testicular cancer', frequently seeing it advertised on T.V., and even having leaflets through your door about it; each time, emphasising "MEN'S fight for survival". At the same time, however, female-specific cancers barely got a mention; despite killing with similar a frequency.

Imagine frequent walking/running events being organised and advertised, from which females were not permitted to participate, all in aid of male-specific cancers. With all this, would you not start to resent all the "men's fight for survival" types?

The very fact that such events exclude males, only goes to illustrate the extent of female sexism in western society; despite cutting off 50% of potential funding for such events (i.e. would-be male entrance fees), they still profit, because males being excluded increases by more than double, female participation rates.

To be honest, it is near-mind-boggling as to how sexist females have become.

You'd have a hard job convincing Germaine Greer of this, however; who a few weeks ago wrote an article for a UK paper, saying how women love men more than vice versa (I tried to post a link to the article, but couldn't find one), and how the existence of gentlemen's clubs proved this; given the popularity of 'ladies' nights' events and events such as the aforementioned running event, the irony there is unbelievable.

It's also near-mind-boggling as to how feminists seem to be so heavily deluded.
