Is the men's rights movement growing?

Is the men's rights movement growing?
    By Peter Finocchiaro

Is the men's rights movement growing? - Scott Adams - Salon.com

Cartoonist Scott Adams ran into some hot water recently for a blog post he penned that nominally took aim at something calling the "men's rights movement" -- but also denigrated women, comparing them to children and handicapped persons. The episode led to a whole series of responses (including a couple here at Salon), most of which were incensed rebuttals of Adams' bizarre, uncouth statements.
Still, we wondered, just how big is the men's rights movement?

I hope you can stomach the blatant dishonesty in the article above.

Re: Is the men's rights movement growing?

It's basically an interview with Michael Kimmel.

That's essentially the same as interviewing the KKK to find out more about the civil rights movement.

    Kimmel--Delusional, or intellectually dishonest charlatan?

Letters: Is the men's rights movement growing? - Salon

Kimmel(sp?) is either intentionally duplicitous, or delusional. For example, the preferential drink prices for women are in no way comparable to the higher cost of women's haircuts vis a vis men's. A drink is a drink, pretty much. Women are charged more for haircuts because women's hairstyles in virtually every instance are more complicated, and often are not merely haircuts. A minor example, but beautifully illustrative of Kimmel's perversely dishonest intellectual processes. Here's another: the college attendance gap. It's true that a preponderance of men in higher education circa 1965 was not considered abnormal. I am--believe it or not--enough of a feminist that I would not want to return to those days either. But that has nothing whatsoever to do with conditions obtaining now, 40 years later, where a hangnail becomes a traumatic amputation in the telling if it affects the female sex. And Kimmel is neither crazy nor stupid. He *knows* he's distorting the truth, but he says it anyway. And you let him. Shame on all of you.

Re: Is the men's rights movement growing?

In the short-term it's possible that -- as men feel really put upon, and feel more pressure around jobs and economic insecurity and familial insecurity -- they're going to be looking around for a place to hang that discomfort. And, certainly it's true that the greater equality of women is going to be a convenient peg on which to hang that. But it's temporary. It's not going to last.
From my point of view, the Men's Rights Movement has not just grown - it's EXPLODED!!!

Twenty years ago, a few small voices were crying in the wilderness about the vices of feminism. Now it's a world-wide Tsunami.

Kimmel is basically a gambler that placed his bets on the idea that feminism would be the major driver of western political thought. He didn't even consider the notion that feminism might be viewed negatively outside the western world or deemed as a negative force within it. What a fuckwit!!

He does it because he CAN. Nowadays, people like you Zub, see it for what it is and spread the word. Thanks to you and your work, there are now millions of men that understand the worldwide fraud.

Has the MRM grown? It's now a worldwide network, where once there was nothing. MRM ideas are slowly but surely converting men to think in new ways. The philosophy of female privilege has no status unless women become become a cheap and plentiful commodity.

Thanks to the ever-expanding MRM, western women are now correctly viewed as parasitic, and over-priced.
Kimmel (aka the 'pimp') would be happy to sell you a very expensive and faulty product - one that didn't pass 'Quality Assurance' as long as he gets his commission.

The international market is way beyond his small-minded thinking.

Re: Is the men's rights movement growing?

There is no "Men's Rights Movement". It's just a change in behavior among men. We're not organizing shit, we're not marching, we're not protesting, we're mainly talking to each other about how fucked up these women are. Feminists call it a 'movement' because they need an enemy to focus their attentions on. For every (self proclaimed) MRA there's gotta be a shit ton of feminazis, we conscious dissenters are a very fucking tiny group. We're growing... slowly, but it's David vs Goliath Zeus.

Just like the "Marriage Strike". THERE IS NO FUCKING MARRIAGE STRIKE. It's a fucking "mass action", a bunch of men, due to the same cause, are concluding INDEPENDENTLY that a man has to be functionally retarded to marry a woman under these laws. There is zero organization. Men aren't holding out for something to change. We just quit. No good reason to marry + Many good reasons not to marry = Not gonna marry. Men are simply changing to accommodate women.

The marriage strike is a media invented term so women have something to point to when denegrating men who won't marry. Men have simply become aware of the enormous risk to their happiness, healthy, wealth, and sanity with the current set of marriage laws and family courts. Men are refusing to marry because it is a risk to their well being.

Exactly. That's what the MRM is. What did you expect - a political party with seats in the Senate and regular coverage by the mainstream media?
'Dissent' among men has gone global. There is a sea-change in the hearts and minds of men everywhere that have observed the negative effects of feminism. Wherever feminist-controlled politicians of any party cease to consider the needs of men, the deal is off.
Men aren't holding out for something to change. We just quit.
(your words) - that's our strength that no government can steal.

You're so right in many ways but I could argue about tactics. Change is effected by what all men do, not by what a minority of men say.
If feminism has screwed the western world but you still think your vote, as a man, has value - think again.
Forget political parties and vote with your feet.
We don't need to espouse treacherous male politicians or take responsibility for treacherous women. We need to start thinking outside the box.

To my mind, being an MRM means thinking and acting for yourself and rejecting the feminist indoctrination that says your very existence can only be validated by some mindless, amoral woman.

The MRM grows from strength to strength. We don't see it in the news headlines. We don't see it in political commentary. What we see is that more and more men are starting to behave in ways that the feminists failed to predict.
Whatever I say, write, think, do or even imagine.... some woman somewhere made me do it.
It's her responsibility and not mine.

I disagree. Taking action by voting for the politician who has publicly said they will bring back fairness for men and security for families IS voting with your feet and doing something. When any election comes up, write to all candidates and ask them what they intend doing to secure men's rights/security/fairness and children's safety/well-being/family security. If you won't be standing as a candidate yourself, at least make sure that all candidates realise that there is a huge vote to be had by being anti-feminist.

Re: Is the men's rights movement growing?

I see a loose coalition between men's groups and there have been some initiatives - Register-her.com is one example that has more than one group supporting it, Mensheds and URLS@urinals are others. I think the "Movement" part of MRM though is applicable only insofar as it consists of groups getting the information out to men free of the feminist-approved editorial process of mainstream media.

That for me is key - making information freely available so men can make up their own minds.
Every revolution carries within it the seeds of its own destruction.

Never send a feminist to do an egalitarian's job.

The approval of women is over rated.
