Re: Examples of Womens Oppression
According to feminists, men existing in any position of power is oppression.
According to femmies, it is only when women hold all positions of power than oppression ceases to be.

Re: Examples of Womens Oppression
My nurse complains that I am a nasty person who calls her unpleasant names..
"Slag", "Bikeshed", etc..
I Call my housekeeper "shitbreath", "vaginaface", and a lot of other names but she seems to never complain..
I guess some women would feel oppressed whatever a gent does..

Re: Examples of Womens Oppression
I will start another blog-post but one they often complain about is cat-calling, or someone saying they should smile.

Jam-jar lids.
They are made deliberately difficult to unscrew. It is a plot by oppressive. patriarchal male bottle-top designers who study for years perfecting the means to thwart women.

Re: Examples of Womens Oppression
What most idio....sorry, PEOPLE, use as supposed an example of female oppression, is the fact that governments are run mainly by men, and how men outearn women, on average, across the world; whilst this is true, I am amazed as to how the brainwashed masses are unable to accept the difference between equality, and equality OF OPPORTUNITY. Yes, men may still outearn women and be more likely to hold positions of power; but then, men are also more likely to work longer hours, work more years, have high I.Q.s, have more testosterone giving them the drive and mentality to conquer, and so on and so forth. However, the feeble minds of the 'PC Brigade' members can't possibly acknowledge such FACTS, and would rather sit and continue reading their copies of 'PC Moron's Monthly', than to actually take an OBJECTIVE view of things.
There's also the issue of women being supposedly objectified in the media, that these lame-brains harp on about; which is stupid, being as good looking men with muscular, toned bodies, are used nearly as much in the media as are good looking women with good bodies, anyway, and whilst women may be judged slightly more on their appearance, than are men, men are judged INFINITELY more on their income, than are women; an issue that barely ever seems to be raised, outside of the MRM.
Do excuse me, now, as I'm just off NOT to shed any tears of behalf of poor, oppressed little wimmyn.

Re: Examples of Womens Oppression
This is thinking of a feminist on women who are genuinely mistreated because of their gender in certain backwater countries - "Fuck 'em, not our problem".
But whenever you put the question to them, "What do feminists still have to fight for?", then they conveniently use those women in backwater countries as examples of women being oppressed, that's the only time they notice they exist, when it suits them.
As DB pointed out, men making up most of the numbers in politics is also cited as some example of women being oppressed, which is especially difficult to take seriously when Thatcher was PM during your early life.
Time and again we hear feminists use this as an example, showing that they are in favour of women CHOOSING their own careers, but only if they choose the ones that feminists deem fit for them.
It also shows a skewed type of thinking, they're so mentally challenged, they don't understand that they do have proportional representation, since all elected politicians are supposed to serve ALL the people, not just those that resemble themselves.
Feminists seem to be of the mindset that if women make up half the numbers, half the politicians will be looking out for women's needs, but this would then mean that female politicians are not any good at their job, representing the people, since they will only be looking out for their own.
It makes it appear that feminists don't put much faith in women being capable as politicians, since they assume they will only serve women's needs.Hugh & Mary Discuss Feminist Related Issues (ALL SUBTITLED): http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...0081D259987DCD

Re: Examples of Womens Oppression
The ones I hear most often are all pretty standard. Not in so many words, but this is the idea:
- Women are deliberately kept out of senior positions in employment by rich white men at the top. Anyone, male or female, who refuses to employ a woman in case she leaves to have a child is inexcusably sexist. During "Women's Week" at my university (no "men's week," I note) tickets for the student club night cost 17% less for women because of the idea that on average women are paid 17% less than a man in the same job. Where does that figure come from? Do these women work the same hours as their male colleagues? Have they taken "breaks" because of children? No one cares.
- Any woman who abuses children must be poor, mentally ill, or didn't get enough "support" from family/friends/social services/the child's father/whoever. Female child abusers and paedophiles get over-reported because there are so few of them compared to men, who, of course, abuse children all day and night. Young boys who commit gang violence are BAD and EVIL and should be locked up. Young girls who do the same (Home Office figures in the UK show more of these offences than ever before) are just poor or misguided or victims of abuse.
- The "1 in 4" (or "1 in 3," whatever it is this week) rape statistic. Let's not even get into how you define "rape." Once a woman has been raped/sexually assaulted, she'll have her sexual history dragged through the court by misogynistic juries and lawyers who believe she must have been "asking for it." (I did a uni module on "Law of Evidence" last year. There are actually quite strict guidelines on when it's relevant to use the victim's past behaviour in evidence for a criminal case.) And of course, women never falsely accuse men of rape.
- Most women have been/will be beaten up by a male partner at some point. Reciprocal violence? You jest, sirrah.
- If a woman claims to be overworked and exhausted from trying to be a full time working mother, it's because the father is too lazy to help her with the house and kids. Most men do not know how to cook or do laundry, and rely on their wives and mothers for all things domestic. Divorced fathers MUST be harassed for child support or they won't pay up.
- Most, if not all men will cheat on their girlfriends/wives without a second thought. I've actually asked some women who they think it is that these men are cheating with. The usual response is "some gold-digging slut at his workplace" or "the nanny/babysitter"
- Before feminism, women were the ONLY people not allowed to vote, own property, open a bank account etc. Ask a random woman if she knows actual dates or laws about voting and the like. I bet she doesn't.
And some women wonder why men have a low opinion of them ...Last edited by Euphemia; 20th-June-2009 at 11:36 PM.

Re: Examples of Womens Oppression
A fine round up.
So, you are a woman. What is it that makes so many ordinary women buy into all of this stupidty?
We men here have varying views about feminism and women's reactions, but the women here have a 'ringside seat' to the workings of women's minds and hearts.
Tell us what you think is the main reson why women respond to feminism as they generally do.
