    Even though television viewers will be bombarded over the next few weeks with commercials featuring U.S. women Olympians, new research shows once the London Games end it could be awhile before they see them again. The study by two University of Delaware professors found that American companies rarely employ female athletes as spokespeople and when they do, it's most often done poorly.
    The research suggests advertisers' current tactics, which focus on youth and sex appeal, rather than other defining characteristics, including athletic ability, are creating a cycle of failure for female athlete endorsers.

    Another pointless study from the victim card playing, crybaby bull shit department.

    Did it ever occur to these fools that female athlete endorsers aren't wanted? Most kids that look up to athletes are male, which aren't going to care too much about a female athlete.

    Hmmmm, what are the credentials of those two UD professors? Are they both from the women's studies department?

    And in the feminist world, "research suggests" = "it must be true".
    Contrary to what some feminists say, male violence is not "acceptable", "sanctioned" or "institutionalized" behavior. The fact that it is even considered criminal is proof of that.

    I don't watch the Olympics and to be honest, I could care less about athlete endorsements. The only time I was actually interested in the Olympics is when we [Canada] hosted the 2010 Winter games.

    Oh bullshit, if women are marketable enough they'll attract the sufficient endorsers.

    Jennifer Ennis has just won the gold for Great Britain in the heptathlon, and companies will be bending over backwards to sign her up (as they did in the build up to the Olympics 6 months before). It's ultimately about business, gender politics doesn't figure.

    The British female Olympians have been faring equally as well and expect the advertising interest to reflect that. It isn't about some patriarchal conspiracy, but best marketing an image that gives the best investment returns. Hence why Usain Bolt will be the hottest marketing property if he wins the 100m final later on today. It's business, nothing more!

    Wait for the feminist position to then change after realizing the endorsements are forthcoming, to then claim the women are been objectified. Remember, no matter how much you accommodate feminism, it will pisstakingly continue to rebirth some mutant strain to validate it's continued existence.

    Absolutely. Here in the UK, we have had Jessica Ennis (and a number of other British sportswomen like Victoria Pendelton and Rebecca Adlington) shoved down our throats for months in the build-up to the Olympics. If they are not endorsing products, they are in TV features promoting the games, modelling kit, posing for posters or giving interviews in one or other of the mountains of mags that festoon our shops. Whether that makes them sex objects or not I couldn't give a monkey's, but nobody can complain about lack of exposure.

    Oh, except the feminists of course.

    Two professors, quotes from some website, a bimbo that forced her man into fatherhood, studies and findings and piles and piles of faux news just materialized out of thin air, percentages, quotas,

    Most of these feminist-oriented "news" pieces just look like somebody made it all up and injected it into the news stream.
