cutbacks to women’s programs weaken message against domestic violence
B.C. cutbacks to women’s programs weaken message against domestic violence: Report
A new report on Violence Against Women and Children links government cutbacks in funding for women’s programs to troubling incidents of domestic violence.“A broader provincial lens and a concrete national strategy are desperately needed to achieve significant social change and reduce violence against women in British Columbia and Canada.”
“BC’s Representative for Children and Youth, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond has stated that ‘domestic violence is everyone’s responsibility,’” writes Rossiter in her conclusion. “In order to prevent and reduce domestic violence, all levels of government must work to bridge gaps in the services andsystems designed to protect women and children and to support initiatives that build community capacity to prevent domestic violence against women.”

Re: cutbacks to women’s programs weaken message against domestic violence
How sickening. It is "everyone's responsibility" but the only people being cared about are women.“BC’s Representative for Children and Youth, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond has stated that ‘domestic violence is everyone’s responsibility,’” writes Rossiter in her conclusion. “In order to prevent and reduce domestic violence, all levels of government must work to bridge gaps in the services and systems designed to protect women and children and to support initiatives that build community capacity to prevent domestic violence against women.”
Even though children get a side mention - "systems designed to protect women and children" - the only call is for "community capacity to prevent domestic violence against women."
The other 70% of victims - men and children - clearly do not deserve any community capacity, nor any other kind of help and support. After all, they aren't women so who cares? Not BC’s Representative for Children and Youth, that's for sure.
Most domestic violence is started by women. If they are taught to stop it, instead of being supported and encouraged, then most domestic violence might come to an end and children would be a lot happier and safer. Fathers need shelters to take themselves and their children away from violent and abusive mothers so that the next generation of children can grow up without a sickening acceptance of female violence.____________________________________________

Re: cutbacks to women’s programs weaken message against domestic violence
If they recognise cutbacks weakens message of violence against women - then they should recognise the fact of the zero funding men get is a green light for women to abuse men & children.
But logic never was a feminist's strong point...

CBC version
B.C. failing to tackle domestic abuse, says SFU report
Bri.tish Columbia is falling behind in targeting domestic violence, only four years after a murder-suicide which took the lives of five members of a family and saw the province vow to combat domestic abuse, according to a Simon Fraser University report.
When restaurateur Peter Lee killed his estranged wife, Sunny Park, their son Christian, 6, and Park's elderly parents before committing suicide near Victoria in 2007, the BC Coroners Service held an inquest, the province spent $250,000 on risk-assessment training and the government convened a panel to examine 29 deaths and make recommendations.
But a report released by researchers at SFU on Monday concludes the government typically only takes action after high-profile cases and calls on B.C. to develop a comprehensive plan to protect women and children

Re: cutbacks to women’s programs weaken message against domestic violence
They ought to cut quite a bit more on women's programs. Perhaps then there will be sufficient funding for equivalent programs for men. There is no place in this world for these unproprtionally overfunded programs which literally hog up all resources for any other cause. Not to mention how inherently wastefull and flawed these programs more often than not are due to the excess of ideological bias.
I consider this yapping about 'this weakens our message' to be a lousy way of stating that women's issues *cough* advocates feel they are entitled to financial gluttony at the expense of everyone else.
Filthy parasites...

My comment was published, at least. It's getting thumbed-down though.

Re: cutbacks to women’s programs weaken message against domestic violence
It helps to know this so that when the same storm crosses their path and leads them to desolation we'll know that we had to look after ourselves and will leave them to do the same. They don't realize that on their way up they can fall back down again and meet the very same people they double crossed on the way up.
When I do this, and I know I will, it will be comparable to the lame learning to walk, the blind being enabled to see and the suffocated breathing again. The sky isn't the limit; there are no limits.
