Call for ‘Men of strength’ clubs to challenge sexual violence
From The Herald Scotland:
Call for ‘Men of strength’ clubs to challenge sexual violence
SCOTTISH schools should take responsibility for preventing
young people from being pressurised into sex and tackle sexual
bullying, according to a rape prevention project.
The Rosey Project is calling for schools to introduce "men of
strength" clubs modelled on those run in New York and
Washington DC, to encourage boys to challenge sexual violence
and to examine what it means to be a man.
The initiative comes in the week when an NSPCC survey found
that many teenagers are being abused by boyfriends and having
sexual relationships earlier than they want to. In a study with Bristol University, 90% of a sample of 1400 teenage girls aged 13-17 had been in intimate relationships. Of that 90% , one in 16 said they had been raped, and one in six said they had been pressured into sex.
"There is no school that doesn't have any level of sexual violence or sexual bullying and they all need to take responsibility," said Paula Dunn, development worker with the Rosey Project.
She was speaking after Joe Samalin, of US charity Men Can Stop Rape, had addressed an audience including pupils from eight Scottish secondaries in Glasgow, West and East Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Edinburgh at the Coming of Age' conference at Glasgow's Hampden Park on Wednesday.
The Rosey Project was developed by Glasgow Rape Crisis with the help of Glasgow Education Department, and the Coming of Age event was funded by Strathclyde Police. The project has been working in Glasgow schools for 18 months.
Dunn said: "We've come across quite a lot of young boys with worrying attitudes towards young girls and sexual violence in general."
The MCSR campaign is about encouraging the silent majority to stand up to such attitudes, she said, adding that the Rosey Project would now be working to establish the potential for Scottish Men of Strength projects in schools, Another partner could be the White Ribbon Campaign, an international men's movement to end violence against women, already active in Scotland.
"Several people were saying after the Hampden event - How do we get you in our schools'," she said. "We are hoping to link up with the White Ribbon Campaign and also to see if we can get funding to use Joe Samalin's expertise to set up these clubs in our schools."Subscribe to my accounts on DocStoc, Scribd, Twitter and YouTube.

Re: Call for ‘Men of strength’ clubs to challenge sexual violence
This is the kind of thing that really pisses me off!
First of all I have a question: Are boys not teenagers too? Are they not even people that deserve to be surveyed as well in order to assess their experiences and opinions? And I would like to say that I am forever skeptical of any survey about rape or sexual activity amongst females, seriously they never publish their methodology or even what specific items the questions are about. This denies scrutiny that is necessary for a valid analysis. But of course the subject matter absolves the surveyer of accountability. The initiative comes in the week when an NSPCC survey found that many teenagers are being abused by boyfriends and having sexual relationships earlier than they want to. In a study with Bristol University, 90% of a sample of 1400 teenage girls aged 13-17 had been in intimate relationships. Of that 90% , one in 16 said they had been raped, and one in six said they had been pressured into sex.
And this is another thing that really pisses me off!
Dunn said: "We've come across quite a lot of young boys with worrying attitudes towards young girls and sexual violence in general."Does anybody even bother to assess the girl’s attitudes towards sex or even question whether or not it is healthy? And why do they not specify what those "attitudes" are? When I was an adolescent boy I remember giving my sisters Barbie doll a Mohawk and rushing to the TV to watch my favorite Cheap Trick video on MTV in order to get a little rise out of it. I guess this makes me a rapist right?
This is child abuse in my opinion. When you sit a boy down and tell him that he and all boys collectively are "responsible" for all rape and that they should feel a deep sense of shame and "reform" themselves you are putting an indelible mark in their minds that they are bad. And that IS BAD!! VERY VERY BAD!
But this is a big money industry right now. I mean these people collect lots of money from governments to do this kind of thing and they need to give the impression that all boys are violent thugs that need to be trained lilke dogs so they can get more. Their superficial altruism makes me want to puke.Last edited by rohara; 9th-September-2009 at 05:46 PM.
Do not ever suppose that a small group of people can never change the world. INDEED it is the only thing that ever has.

Re: Call for ‘Men of strength’ clubs to challenge sexual violence
Meanwhile, the young slappers go to school with their skirts barely covering their assets and see how many boys they can get a rise out of..
Of course, no one would suggest where the attitudes of young teens come from..
It must be the fathers, obviously.. Even though many of them are no longer able to have any say in how their kids behave..
Fathers removed from families by the state, and now young boys are being told it is THIER fault whenever a girl gets herself in a sticky predicament..
The mangina and the feminist, united in their blaming of men..
Sickening.

Re: Call for ‘Men of strength’ clubs to challenge sexual violence
There is another dimension to this as well as the shaming that I think is just as important. What this whole deal is about is a bunch of feminists defining for young boys what it means to be a boy, then a man. How convenient! Men's sexuality belongs to men and men alone and boys need to take ownership of it and define for themselves as individuals what it means to be a man. Not allowing them to do so or even interfering is in my opinion child abuse.

Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

Indeed. But never underestimate the power of the feminists main weapon in the war against men. The mangina. The poodle boy. The feminists idea of a "real man".. I.E. one who always remembers that he is only allowed to draw breath on this planet because some woman had mercy on him and did not abort him..

I don't know if you like wrestling or not but I'm seriously thinking about creating a Mangina Mafia on my wrestling game
I need to get other things situated first before I start focusing too much on video game wrestling leagues though but I really think it's going to happen (things situated... won't say what those things are) mwahahahah hmm eh.. wahahahahaWhen I do this, and I know I will, it will be comparable to the lame learning to walk, the blind being enabled to see and the suffocated breathing again. The sky isn't the limit; there are no limits.

Disclaimer:The men's and fathers' movement needs to make sure it never sees females as the enemy, but only misandry--whether from females or from males. If not, we'll become like the bigoted feminists that this movement was formed to oppose.Glenn Sacks
