| Great…the one thing I’m never been good at, introducing myself………aw well, here goes nothing. I found this site due to Marx’s avatar on yahoo answers (before they decided to ban him yet again) and figured I’d drop by and see what this site was about so here I am. I’m 20, engaged to be married this October, am currently 8 months pregnant (you guys are lucky you’ll never have to go through that one, lol), I am a liberal feminist and want equality for BOTH genders (some call me an equalist due to this, but because most of my focus is on gender equality, I find liberal feminist better suits me). You may quickly notice I’ve a habit of putting side comments in parenthesis, I know it’s annoying to some people but it’s just one of my habits. I guess I should give a little background about myself. I was born in the Cajun country (that’s Louisiana for anyone not familiar with the term as I know forums have members from all over the world) and was raised by my father until I was 15, at which time the state removed me from his custody due to physical abuse, he fights with alcoholism so I know his actions were not his own back then, it was a result of the alcohol and, since he has stopped drinking he is actually really pleasant to be around. If there’s one thing living with him taught me it’s that I have to stand up for myself because no one else was going to protect me, it was up to me to keep myself safe. I never really knew my mother, even before her and my father divorced she was never there. At the age of 17 I moved out on my own, started doing freelance graphic design for a living and learned how to repair and build computers, I started repairing electronics for a living, freelance of course because I never could stand having a boss over my shoulder, and over time saved up enough to open my own computer and electronics repair business which is doing very well. I had nothing handed to me, everything I have came from my own work and effort, I basically started out with nothing and built my life from the ground up. Let me go ahead and stop myself there before I go on a long rambling session…. | ||||

Welcome, Victoria. Let me just say it before things get out of hand, please understand that this is a place where you will see angry men, and you will see a certain amount of "women this" and "women that". Grow a thick skin or you won't last long. That being said, it's good to see more women wanting to get involved, or at least being willing to speak out against the injustice. Do you post anywhere else?

I use to post on a few other sites, but I lost all the bookmarks when my last computer got stolen, that was about a year ago so I can no longer recall the names of the sites I use to post on, Now I just stick to yahoo answers, my blog, my forum and now here.

Greetings, Victoria. I'm sure you'll find your way around quickly enough, there's plenty to entertain yourself with here, even a small arcade. Like yourself, I am a computer nut and was self-employed for some local schools to maintain their computer networks & workstations, both hardware & software. The cool thing about that, is it requires police checks - meaning, to work in a school - it must be 100% that you are not a danger of any form to children. So it's kind of cool to have that, which I'm sure pisses my ex off as it means if I wanted to, I *could* go and work at my daughers' school again ![]() But I won't.

Greetings, Dr. David Banner posted this on another topic, but it's appropriate for a female who comes here self identifying herself as a feminist. "At the core the feminist label will be regarded as evil.Based on what feminists say themsleves, based on the experince of many many people.Blessings Bob

Have enough conversations with me, you'll learn quickly that I do not hate men, if I did I wouldn't be marrying a man nor would majority of my friends be male and if I hated men I surly wouldn't be here. I have an honest interest in the views of others, even if they are opposing views. The only way to understand someone is to speak with them. I come harboring no ill towards any males because I see everyone as human, not based on gender, religion, race or any other superficial measure. Marx: Thank you for the welcome, I look forward to better understanding the struggles men face and how to ease those struggles without causing strain for others.

I'm always extremely cautious of anyone who describes themselves as a 'feminist'; whatever type of which they may claim to be. So, I'll ask this question, in order to ascertain as to how much I like your viewpoints: do you consider the western world to be more sexist against males? Or do you consider it to be more sexist against females?

I'm taking a guess here, but did you script this site yourself? Thus far it seems to all run smoothly (with the exception of yahoo not letting the emails through for some reason, ah well, there's always gmail to fix it). Why would it piss your ex off if you worked at your daughters' school again? They is your children after all, you should not be barred from seeing them or even working at thier school is you choose to.

Hello VictoriaSparda, everything you have said thus far would only enamour me to engage further. "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State. Most women are brainwashed into calling themselves feminists these days. Feminism like to claim the credit for young women like yourself Victoria, who have established themselves through their own competence and effort and against early difficulties. Unfortunately somewhat deluded young women like yourself seem all too willing to let feminism take the credit due to you. You have done well and I am pleased for you. Mind you, Louisiana isn't Ethipoia or the Hindu Kush. Welcome here. Talk to us. We are just chaps, humans, no rapists (whoops, we all are of course), same goes for paedophiles and rampant woman-haters. Most here do have an aversion to feminists but we enjoy the company of good women. I hope you come to play nicely. I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it. But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up. I am outnumbered. But... YOU don't just make a difference, you make THE difference. ![]()
