When women are respected regardless of how they conduct themselves, then there no longer exists any incentive for them to be respectful themselves. Ergo unwarranted respect becomes counterproductive. For me, the explosion in female chauvinism and it's negative ramifications can be directly attributed to chivalry elevating women way beyond a productive social equilibrium.
I've noticed a similar phenomenon with women in regards to their looks. They assume because men pay attention to them for their appearance it somehow bleeds over into other areas of their selves, and that this attention will last forever.

If I could make two points for women who think like that it'd be this:

1.) Just because you're pretty now, doesn't mean you'll be pretty 10-20 years from now. Once that beauty fades, so will the attention. (Ask any 40 year old former starlet.) Use that time in your youth to build a personality, something that'll set you apart from the multitude of the bleached bronzed and brainless. Guys will go crazy for looks that's true, but they'll stay with someone who has more to give than just a pretty face or perky tits.

2.) Those guys who only pay attention to you for your looks don't really think you're smart, or insightful about whatever you've been prattling on about for the last two hours. They're trying their level best to get into your pants and once they've gotten that enough your initial draw will wear off and they'll leave in search of greener pastures, because honestly that's all you had to give them. Unless of course you took #1 to heart.
