Poquoson woman pleads guilty to sex crimes in incident involving teen boys | | From The Daily Press: Quote: Poquoson woman pleads guilty to sex crimes in incident involving
teen boys
A Poquoson woman will spend the next six months in jail for
having sex with two teenage boys more than a year ago.
Ariel Monroe, 22, of Poquoson, pleaded guilty in York-Poquoson
Circuit Court on Tuesday to two counts of indecent liberties
with a minor and two counts of crime against nature.
Substitute Judge Thomas Nance sentenced Monroe to 20 years
in prison, with all but six months suspended, for the crimes,
which involved two 15-year-old boys in July 2008.
Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Barbara Cooke said the two teens were staying with Monroe watching movies when one of the boys came across a magazine and inquired about the sexual acts in it.
Monroe asked the boys if either of them had ever had sex, and sent one of the boys out of the room and began kissing the other, she said.
The other boy returned and she began fondling both boys, and they eventually had sex, the prosecutor told the judge.
Cooke said Monroe told the boys not to tell their parents about the incident because she was over 18 and would get in trouble for having sex with them, but she later told their parents herself.
At the time, Monroe was 21.
Monroe was arrested in July after the boys' parents reported the incident to police.
She was originally charged with two felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, two felony counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of minor by having consensual sex with a child 15 years old or older.
Monroe and the victims are not related.
Monroe remained mostly silent during her sentencing and addressed the judge only with one-word answers, such as "yes," "no" and "guilty."
She also declined to speak when given the opportunity to address the court.
After completing her six-month jail sentence, Monroe will be released into supervised probation.
She will also have to register with the state police as a sex offender.
