Woman Accused Of Having Sex With Minors Knew Teens From
Neighborhood

A woman faces felony charges after police say she had sex with
four teenage boys in her home. Court documents also say Sara
Smith, 26, gave the boys drugs and alcohol during a three-day
span in September.

Police say their investigation began when someone filed a report
saying several teenage boys were spending an unusual amount
of time at Smith's house. When investigators went to check it
out, they found three boys inside the home ― all under the
influence of alcohol.

Smith’s neighbors can’t believe it.

“[I’m] shocked that it's right over there that it happened,” said Melissa Stroes. “She has kids and I have kids…”

“She doesn’t strike me as anybody that would do that,” said Gail Miller, another neighbor.

But court documents allege Smith gave alcohol and pot to four boys ― ages 13, 14 and 15 ― and had sex with them sometime from Sept. 27 – Sept. 29.

At one point Smith also filed a police report claiming one of the teenagers raped her. But investigators say that is not what happened.

“There was no force in any of the acts,” said St. Joseph County Special Victims Unit Commander Sgt. Brent Hemmerlein. “It was consensual sex with the minors who were participating willingly.”

In Indiana, the legal age of consent is 16. That is why Smith is facing one felony charge of child molesting and three felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Hemmerlein said most of the boys live in her neighborhood.

“It was basically word of mouth through friends and acquaintances that were inviting their friends and kids over to the house,” Hemmerlein told WSBT.

“One of my older children mentioned that there was a rumor going around that it was happening,” said Marion Swank, who also lives nearby. “But you know, with teenage kids, you're not quite sure if that's true or not.”

But reading the court allegations for themselves and having kids of their own who played with Smith’s children has her neighbors questioning how well they really know the people living next door.

“I can’t believe she would have done that!” said Miller. “I know my neighbors. I’m not really concerned with some of the neighbors. Sara, that definitely opens my eyes.”

Hemmerlein said the investigation is on-going. In fact, police think there could be even more teenage boys who had sex with Smith. Court documents list several other juveniles who reportedly spent time at her apartment.

Investigators and neighbors also said Smith has two kids of her own. They were turned over to Child Protective Services and are with family members. Hemmerlein said they don't think Smith committed any sex acts with her own kids.

Smith was arraigned before a judge Monday. She entered a preliminary plea of not guilty. She was still in the St. Joseph County jail Friday afternoon.

I've noticed a growing number of similar stories where women predate on the male friends of their own children. Of course plying them with alcohol and drugs ensures they'll keep frequenting the scene of the crime, and also be more susceptible to sexual advances.

I remember about 18 months ago, in the UK, where a woman had sex (technically rape) with over 30 underage boys, multiple times. Friends of her children. She escaped prison and I believe even profited from her mass pedophilic rape through several newspapers and magazines.

It's ironic that the outdated stereotype of a neighbourhood paedophile is that of an unkempt male skulking in the bushes sweating profusely, when the reality is female paedophiles can remain in the comfort of their own homes, and the victims will actually come and knock on her door.

The police need to throw away their feminist muzzles and look afresh at how they devise profiling for paedophiles.
