Cleveland teacher indicted for having sex with student

A 30-year-old charter school teacher was indicted on sexual
battery charges after prosecutors said she had sexual relations
with a 17-year-old student .

Naomi Wright, of Cleveland, was indicted this week on 12 counts
of sexual battery and four counts of corrupting another with
drugs.

Prosecutor's office spokesman Ryan Miday said the victim is a
student at the Virtual School House, a charter school for children
with special needs and learning disabilities.

Wright taught biology to the boy and acted as his mentor.

"Wright knew the victim had an interest in music and became close with the victim as she did the music programs at the school," Miday said. "The victim was bringing all his work to her room and he was doing better in school. The victim's mother came to trust Wright and the victim and another student would go to Wright's home to record music, around the latter part of 2008."

Miday said eventually the victim's mother allowed the boy to sleep at Wright's home during the week and during that time they developed a sexual relationship.

She also gave the student marijuana, Miday said.
