Homeless Youth and sexual Exploitation

This is something I wasn't expecting. To cite this report by the National Alliance to end Homelessness:

Studies are inconclusive as to whether there are gender disparities between females and males with respect to sexual exploitation. Some studies note that homeless girls have a disproportionate rate of sexual abuse histories as compared to boys, while others note higher rates of involvement in survival sex and prostitution for homeless male youth than female youth.

To cite some of these studies (not all tell us something about the participants genders)

21 percent of the boys and 5 percent of the girls said that they had engaged in sex in exchange for ‘food, shelter, money, or drugs.

Hmm... and while the world only cries about the exploitation of girls, that of boys is neglected. Ironically, it turns out in this report (which seems credible to me after scanning it quickly) that male exploitation happens more than that of females... yet that of boys is not worth any spare thought or mention?

This is the kind of bigotry that fills the hearts of people with anger and which makes men feel disposable and worth less than dogs.

hmmm...so women die more often when involved that does make it rather hard to get a solid count

i think this goes more towards survival instinct and the will to do whatever it takes to get the next meal-its easy to sell your body when youve lost almost all humanity but still have the will to keep on living
