We give them hope.....we support them. We let them know that they are not alone. We help them, we unite with them. We join the fight against the systems that created these injustices. We reassure them that there is a flicker of light inside each one of us that has not been extinguished. We help keep the fire burning. Easier said than done, but a worthy cause is one that will not be silenced nor forgotten by those who struggle to bring to humanity peace and justice for all.

Well done TERA. You are showing courage and skill, confronting the stereotypes and opening people's eyes. I think the blacksmith just might have to make a sword for you with some nice, fancy engravings on the blade.
I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it. But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up. I am outnumbered. But... YOU don't just make a difference, you make THE difference. ![]()

I wish I had a picture of it to show you. It looks almost Native American in design, yet the symbols are Scandinavian and Celtic.

teiwaz : Tyr Phonetic equivalent: t DIVINATORY MEANINGS: duty, discipline, responsibility, self-sacrifice, conflict, strength, a wound, physicality, the warrior path MAGICAL USES: protection, victory, strength, strengthening the will, healing a wound ASSOCIATED MYTHS & DEITIES: Tyr and the Fenris Wolf, Odin's ordeals ANALYSIS: Just as the second aett began with the cleansing destruction of hagalaz, so too does the third aett begin with a loss. However, hail is imposed by the Gods to force the sacrifice of those things which aren't really vital to our development. Teiwaz, on the other hand, represents a voluntary sacrifice, made by someone who understands exactly what they are giving up and why. Tyr's sacrifice of his hand to allow the binding of the Fenris Wolf was a noble one, and notable in a pantheon of deities not known for their sense of duty and ethical responsibility. He is believed to be one of the oldest of the Norse Gods - a Bronze-age rock carving was found in Scandinavia depicting a one-handed warrior - and his position may well have originally superseded that of Odin. Tyr's rune is also one of the oldest in the fuþark, having survived virtually unchanged from the earliest Bronze-age carvings. It represents all those qualities associated with the God: strength, heroism, duty and responsibility. But it also represents a deeper mystery - that of the wounded God. Like þurisaz, the pain of teiwaz focuses the attention and forces discipline. However, in this case the effect is more conscious and the wound carries a greater significance. Uruz has been confronted and bound, and the lessons of teiwaz and hagalaz have been learned. This is the path of the warrior.

Shield Knot (Four Corners) Related Terms • triskele • Symbols of Druidry • Cernunnos • Symbols of Wicca Related Resources • Celtic knot Gallery •Druid/Celtic faith • Asatru • Neopaganism Glossaries • Symbol Glossary • Alternative Religions Glossary • Glossary of Magick and the Occult While the common design is most often associated with the Celts and ancient Norse, the most basic form is much older. The fourfold version at right is Mesopotamian in origin and is associated with protective spells invoking the gods of the four corners of the earth. Later, it was used in the Kabbalah as a symbol of the Shema, the prayer/spell to invoke the four Archangels; it is the origin of the "Qabbalistic Cross" ritual still used today. This knot is sometimes referred to as the "Earth Square" or St. Hans cross. The Norse and Celtic versions of the knot are used for the same purposes of protection but are related to the fourfold solar cross. ![]() Traditional Norse, built on a swastika/solar cross motif ![]() ![]()

Fourth comment/response to come in: I think you wrote a wonderful post. I enjoyed reading it, and I love what you wrote "I think it's important to support fathers who are supporting their kids." That is a great statement. I have a friend who is raising his daughter alone. Her mom didn't want to be responsible anymore and just "gave" her to him. It was hard at first, but he has had her three years, and is doing a wonderful job! He also has the support of his friends and family which is great. ![]() Nice post, and I enjoyed reading what you had to write! Thanks, Katie
