Feckless is right.. My ex-wife hated with a passion my ex-g/f... She complained about the fact that we were on good terms. She compared her ex with mine, noting that she doesn't talk to him at all apart from references to their child, and insisted I show her respect by doing similar with my ex-g/f.

Until - we got divorced.

*suddenly* they were on one another's myspace pages and exchanging emails and all sorts... Yep, suddenly they foudn friendship.

Ok, but PLEASE tell me that you don't think that I would EVER make friends with this kind of person (his ex). I depise everything about her. From her fake personality to vile nature to her lack of intellect. Just the thought of befriending her makes me want to vomit.

Me thinks not....good ol hatred works best in this case....

Just don´t attack or talk bad about her when her son is arround. That is the only advice I would give you.

Honestly I really think she deserves all the hate she is getting. I hope it helps you to blow of some steam.

I would NEVER badmouth her when step is around. That would hurt him AND my relationship with him. I am not that stupid or heartless.

I feel very sorry for this kid. He got pulled right into the middle of a war between you, your husband, and his mother. How sad that is...I bet he feels pretty tore up inside. Both sides demanding loyalty...bringing him into their disputes...making him feel bad for not being able to tell who's "side" is right and who's is wrong. Forgive me for saying this, onegirl, but I think you should have just left him out of this. That boy didn't do anything wrong. He didn't ask for any of this. Now he's going to bed tonight thinking he's managed to upset both daddy, daddy's girlfriend, and mommy. And he had nothing to do with the power struggle going on between you. You all ought to be ashamed.

Okay. Now that I have calmed down a bit I will respond to this.

I do not like the implication that WE pulled him into the middle of this. All WE did was buy him a nice gift for his birthday. SHE decided that she was not going to allow him to have the gift and SHE made him call and leave a message for his dad stating that he must send the receipt because his mother was going to replace the gift. SHE told him that the helmet was cheap and not good enough. SHE made him call and direct his father to do her bidding. Not us! SHE could have called my hubby and privately discussed this with him. That is not what SHE did. He was fully involved before my husband even called her. Granted HE should have known that she was going to use his kid as a punching bag and called at a different time. His mistake was not involving his son but failing to remember what a heartless bitch she is and what she is capable of doing. He mistakenly thought that perhaps she could actually restrain herself. He will not make that mistake again...

AND....HE told his son everything was fine. HE did not bash his mother, nor did he tell his son she was wrong, nor did he try to enlist his opinion about the helmet OR ask him to take sides in ANY way...HE explained that this dispute was between himself and his mother and that there would not be any discussion between the two of them regarding it.

That is what SHE did. She disgusts me. To say that we would knowling engage in something like that is extremely offensive to me.

There is a slight similarity to my own experiences.

One of the christmas times, I went halfs with my mom in buying my kids a swing. I'm not rich, so couldn't afford a nice big one. But, we did get them a solid single swing to share.

Their maternal grandparents then went and bought a double wide swing and put it in their yard.

When my mother bought them coats - their maternal grandparetns bought them 'better' (more expensive) coats. And on it goes.

It's pathetic. It really is just downright pathetic.

Not quite the same situation as we have a lot more money than they do...so they cannot really "outdo" the gifts we buy him. Pretty much anything nice he has was a gift from us. Not that we are trying to "buy" him. We budget and get what we can afford... It is not our intention to buy him "better" stuff than what they can afford. I am sure he does not relate gifts to "love".

I do understand the games your ex's family is playing though. You are right. It is really pathetic. Losers.
