What do you suggest? Do you feel I am just "spoiled" by society?

A non-religious person at the same time could look at both sides and perhaps see the non-biased TRUTH. Perhaps the accused "witch" was actually just a woman who used nature to make natural balms and salves just like her ancestors did before her... Any person could make this type of argument over and over again.

I don't know whether you are spoiled by society or created by the environment. They are possible contributors. But your 'society' says that you are 'empowered' and are 'in charge' and can 'do whatever you like'. You can't have it both ways. And this isn't about you, Onegirl. You have introduced an issue and everyone has tried hard to keep it an abstract issue and apply it generally. Your venting is allowed here. It is understood here. You are encouraged to be comfortable here. I do not want to say that you, in particular are 'spoiled' . Do you think you are?
I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it. But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up. I am outnumbered. But... YOU don't just make a difference, you make THE difference. ![]()

The fact is that the protected position of women, especially with two warring women in the friggin' Throne room, meant that the religious wars (between those two women, not the Church) burned to death three times as many men as women. Regardless, "witches" were burned at the stake by Catholics. Just an example.

K. Can I get back to venting? We celebrated step son's birthday this weekend. He is currently into biking. He asked for a full face helmet (silly, but don't all 12 year old boys ask for one)? We got him one. A decent one $100. He was thrilled. No more than an hour after my hubby dropped him off he gets a phone message. His son is saying his mom says the helmet does not meet rating requirements and he not allowed to have it, and won`t he send the box up on the bus so that his mother may choose a more suitable helmet... Facts are the helmet was purchased at Canadian Tire (a big respected company) and is CPSC certified. It is totally safe and legal. She is just being a dumb cow and not allowing him to have his birthday present. And, of course, giving her son the impressions that his father is too stupid to be able to make decisions that keep him safe...THAT is what is the most annoying. Anyways, hubby is going to phone her and tell her to fuck off. She can take his helmet if she wants him to remember forever the time his mother took his wicked cool gift his dad got him or she can do the right thing. Argh. They should make a video game where the object of the game is me beating her nasty as trailer trash face in. Sorry, it pisses me off when people disrespect my husband. Especially in front of his son. Just venting.

Onegirl, there was the infamous Salem witch trials. Your home country and comparatively recent. Do you think that was 'religious". Dem nasty Catholics in the shrubbery? I seem to recollect that it was Protestants of one ilk or another (so many) who provided the WitchFinder General. And conducted the 'Inquisitions' there. And, bugger me, they even used torture to force cofessions ! In America ! The land of the Free. I also seem to recall that the whole issue was due to mouldy grain causing an outbreak of hallucinational hysteria. Amongst women. Who 'denounced' one another. For having sexual shennanigans with de Debil. Ol' Beelzebub hi'self. People took these FALSE ALLEGATIONS as true. Now that is the interesting part as the witch burnings in England were also eventually sheeted home to mouldy grain and far from witches being hunted down by Catholics, it was largely the case of women denouncing other women with sexual false allegations. Around and around we go.
