Come on, Tera, you know that this is only a small part of the issue. There is no way a man can protect himself enough.

If he had his balls cut off but was simply named as the father he would still be nailed to the floor for 18 years. He could have arrived in the country just the day before and never met the woman but if he is named, he is fucked. He could be the victim of a rape by a woman and be only friggin' 13 and still be held to pay for the next 18 years from his paper-round.

The issue isn't about a man 'protecting' himself. That is just shifting responsibility onto him.

The issue is about women lying and decieving and extorting - and other women - like yourself - not condemning it in words of one friggin' syllable.

It would only take 10 women jailed for 18 years for most other women to GROW UP pretty damned FAST.

For that to happen, women like YOU have to speak out very loudly and demand that such women be severely punished.

Personally, while an 'organic' traditional system, whatever the general outcome, is better than an imposed, artificial one, I would hold to the view that Both Parents are totally, wholly, jointly and severally responsible and accountable for their children. If a third party wishes to take over a responsibility of another who willingly gives it up, that is their business.

Which is why that system is somewhat more appealing. The current Western standard is to reward vindictive ex's by allowing them to play God with your children, and be financially rewarded for doing so.

Yohan's system rewards no one - so there is NOTHING to gain by acting like a spoilt baby.

What is seen obviously in the West as a big problem, is seen here in Asia - not only in Japan - as a small problem.

Most couples here in Japan break their relationship either before they have children, or after the children are rather grown up.

Often there are parents and relatives living nearby, there is not such a problem with children and divorce - not like what I hear from EU or US.
I never heard even about such problems in my living area to exist - it's really not that, I would call an important issue for the big majority of the Japanese people.

The Japanese system of good income for the man against long working hours, and the long hours in school for children will not change - married or divorced, basically same.

The divorced woman will find another man easily, as the follow-up man has NO obligation for the children, should he move out of that relationship again. There is no risk to pay for children and you are not the father, as there is NO childsupport existing at all.

A single mother would be stupid, if she is rejecting money against visitation rights, as a Japanese female in her 30s is not loaded with money and a big income generally. As I said before, most are asking relatives or social services to take the children, and then have a rest somewhere, and at a fixed date/time are collecting the money and children again.

This might change, if the woman finds another man with enough money, this is the risk for the ex-husband. - The public social services will not help him except trying to negotiate, to offer some consultation, as there is no law to force anything. This works the other way too. If the woman has no money and wants the ex-husband to take care with visitations and to pay some support and he does not want...(yes, there are such Japanese men...), then there is nothing what the ex-wife can do, except refusing any contact between children and ex-husband (also from the side of the children)...

I think, Thailand is similar to Japan in such regulations.

Malaysia is different due to Islamic laws, which also have some influence in the civil law-codes for non-Muslims.

As far as I know, in Malaysia the priority goes to the father - children to the father, full responsible for everything.... and the wife is moving out, (yes, she can claim a one-time pay-off) and she is not a mother anymore, she is not responsible for anything in the past.

She is just walking out, starting a new life, free to look for somebody else.

I think the Asian way is more into a very strict separation, including financial separation, between past and future. Finished is finished, totally finished, no claims and no rights anymore in future, go your own new way.

In Europe and USA even children of other men might show up to claim money for decades...

This is different in Asia - such a legal framework does not exist. You cannot run after your ex-husband or as child after your divorced father and claim this and that...

with such a pill the wimmin would lose their leverage over him as he could prove he was not the father by a simple DNA test

she would then have to hunt the true father down and fit hom with some peonage order
