Up until recently, 2002 I think, unmarried fathers had no rights whatsoever to their children. Not a bean. I think I'm right in saying that F4J helped push a move for unmarried fathers to have same rights as married fathers (which, upon divorce is still worth nowt).

That people like Jolly keep the protest method going is a good thing, even without O'Connor. But he did have a strong ability to gather the troops, which has been lost. O'Connor had flaws, as all people do. There is need in any team for a balance of specific personality types. TERA has that quality of looking for the downsides, so they can be anticipated and countered well in advance. Even though it is slightly annoying, these cautionary voices are often essential. The leaders though, while heeding the cautions, must press on and keep the momentum up. F4J suffered from a hiatus brought about by infighting and egocenticm. It is good to see a core of sound men still out there on the rooftops. TERA asks: Quote:
Few took any notice until F4J started painting the town purple, literally, starting with CARFASS offices. Zoshial verkers would arrive at their high street offices to find the walls and doors painted purple and the door locks bunged up with superglue. They couldn't even get in. Crowds would gather and mayhem would ensue. Newspapers had a great time keeping up with the antics. A hit and run strategy meant that the authorites could not know where they would strike next. The heads of CARFASS were bitter and twisted old feminist biddies who dithered and prevaricated while demands were made and invstigations started. Questions were asked in the Commons. The answers were not pretty and the public was outraged. The whole leadership was eventually sacked. The campaign was successful. If it fell short of totally excellent it was only because the CARFASS leaders weren't personally sued 'til they squealed, and jailed. But their names are on the list for Feminist Misandry Justice awards. I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it. But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up. I am outnumbered. But... YOU don't just make a difference, you make THE difference. ![]() | ||||

i dont know where you got that from marx!! F4J have never, ever, had any effect on any legislation and I think you are mistaken on this "rights" thing anyway. Perhaps confusing with parental responsibilty etc? (which is in itself still meaningless!)..

----- Original Message ----- From: "Fathers 4 Justice Office" To: Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2008 7:25 AM Subject: Matt O'Connor: A Time to Unite In the few days left before Fathers Day, we should pause for a moment and reflect on our journey so far. For everybody who has contributed both past and present to the cause, it is a tribute to their efforts that we continue to prevail despite everything that has been thrown at us. That five-and-a-half years since I started Fathers 4 Justice, we remain resolute in our determination to challenge the establishment and campaign for equal rights for dads. Yes, there have been fundamental disagreements, people have left to pursue their own variants of F4J, but none has succeeded because you cannot run a military campaign by committee. We could have been proved wrong, but those that tried, failed. You also need to run a campaign like a business because if you donıt, youıll end up struck off at Companies House as other groups have and wonıt have the money to invest in your campaign. There are also many wishing for me to fail, both in government and in our own movement, yet the thinking, strategy and investment in our ideas has yet again paid spectacular dividends with which no-one can argue; £11.5 million of coverage for an upfront investment of £200 which rivals our biggest ever protests and with virtually unanimously positive coverage. But how can we improve what we do? We must set aside our differences and focus on what unites us, not what divides us. I understand that many people feel a sense of emotional propriety about F4J, though might disagree with elements of what we do. We therefore want to rebuild a grassroots campaign, a bottom up campaign led by you, rather than top-down management. That was right for our early years, but as we evolve we understand the need for people to take ownership over F4J themselves. To that effect, we will help those of you who wish to set up local groups and protests. We will help finance some activity where we can do so and encourage you to run your own groups in your neighbourhoods providing you follow our general guidelines. If you think you can rise to the challenge laid down by Mark Harris and Jolly Stanesby last weekend, then email office@... Be you old or new, the door is open for you to become a leading light in this campaign and an example to all our children. Happy Fathers Day, Matt O'Connor Founder, Fathers 4 Justice | ||||

This new positive attitude from matt looks very promising indeed! Has matt taken the time to consider what many have said in the past? That branches need to have more ability to be creative themselves and less top down control? This new way forward does seem to be more in line with what I have always thought would be a better approach. Worth an investigation!

Such a needed group are not necessarily Military Leaders but they need military leader's inputs. The MRM lacks such a committee. Quote:

They should diversify their tactics such as pay for TV commercials to promote the rights of fathers.

Equal results based on unequal treatment amounts to no kind of equality at all. ~ | ||||
