FARMINGTON (AP) -- A Bountiful woman has been sentenced to 30 days in jail -- 10 days for each of three false reports of rape made to area law enforcement officials.

Nicole Marie Webb, 20, was sentenced last week by Farmington Justice Court Judge Jerald Jensen. A review hearing is set for Feb. 25, and the judge could order more jail time as well as counseling, said Deputy Davis County Attorney Richard Larsen.

Syracuse Detective Heath Rogers said he became suspicious right at the beginning of the woman's story in January 2004, but he investigated it as thoroughly as if it were a genuine report. Rogers said Webb failed to show up the next day for a follow-up report.

During a meeting at the Davis County Children's Justice Center the following week, police from other agencies told Rogers that Webb had also filed reports of rape with their offices.

Rogers said he submitted the information to the city attorney for a possible case against Webb, but the city attorney chose not to file.

After Webb filed a rape report with Farmington police in August, authorities decided they'd had enough.

Larsen said each case was made up. No one was arrested in any of the cases, but police across the county spent countless hours searching for a suspect who did not exist.

Because Webb used resources from the state's crime victims reparation program, she has been ordered to pay back $1,570.

Lisa Dixon, a rape recovery social worker at Your Community Connection of Ogden, said having someone give false reports of rape hurts real victims of the crime.

"Police are really good working with the woman who reports rape, and rape is underreported as it is," Dixon said. "This just makes it harder for other women to come forward because they worry about being believed."

I really can´t hear this anymore someone should falsely accuse her. Those people will never learn till they experience the same injustice. Well shes a women so shell never get jailed for sth like this in reality. This is really starting to make me mad.
