Link: Article at StuffA solo-mother of three lied repeatedly and boasted she was going to be "bigger than Louise Nicholas", a rape trial jury was told today.
Police recruit Mark James Tulloch, 31, stands accused of sexual violation by rape in the High Court in Wellington, relating to an alleged incident at the woman's suburban Whitby house in April last year.
Tulloch and the complainant met on the website www.NZDating.co.nz, moving from chatting online, to cellphone messages, finally meeting in person several hours before the alleged rape.
Tulloch's lawyer, Mike Antunovic, questioned the woman about a series of other unsubstantiated complaints to police she had made - including one against her current partner for assaulting her and molesting her daughter, two other rape complaints and of a $14,000 jewellery theft by a former flatmate.
"Is not a bit of a pattern is starting to emerge - that when you get angry at someone, you make a false complaint about them?" he asked her.
He also questioned her over how she managed to see the "smirk on his face" and identify his tattoos - when the alleged rape happened in the dark.
"You have been caught outright lying," he told her.
Mr Antunovic also asked her about whether she had told a former flatmate she was seeking media attention after alleging a number of policemen in Foxton had raped her in May last year.
The woman had driven, drunk, to visit her children who had been taken away from her. After her arrest, she asked the names of police officers in the station.
"You [told your flatmate] you wanted everyone's names there, so you could go to the media and be 'bigger than Louise Nicholas'," the lawyer said.
"You said you would have the jury eating out of the palm of your hand"
Whenever questioned about conflicting details she had given police during the investigation and at various points in the trial, she frequently repeated herself.
"He raped me."
"I was in shock"
"I can't remember"
"I got hurt by that man and I have to sit here and endure this?"
Mr Antunovic suggested the woman received bruises from drunkenly falling over when trying to "dirty dance" with another man at a party next door, rather than during any alleged rape.
Thorough forensic investigation of the crotch of her jeans and bed found no spilt semen.
She had tried to use the alleged rape to provoke another lover into feeling sympathetic and take her back, Mr Antunovic said.
He highlighted witness accounts, describing Tulloch as "a quiet person", "shy" and "very thoughtful".
"In fact, you had once asked Mr Tulloch if he liked rough sex and he said he didn't, did he?"
She, by comparison, had previously sent a message to the other lover, whose name is suppressed, saying "my fanny is still sore from the jackhammering you gave it. Haha."
The trial continues tomorrow.

Re: Woman denies false rape claim against police recruit
Hey Mike.
Did you know that the rock (radio station) had a great morning on phone calls form the Sth Island on the subject, "Who is hard and who is soft in NZ".
The south island won BTW.
Thanks for adding the info on the post too.Ignorance is the Oppressor, Vigilance the Liberator.

Re: Woman denies false rape claim against police recruit I hope that this woman gets the full treatment of the law, and an example made of her to other women that want to make these sorts of un-founded accusations.
BTW, Louise Nicholas was un-successful in attempting to have 3 men charged with "pack-rape" that occured some years back, one of which was until recently a Senior Police Commander.
The men have always said that the sex was consentual (sp?), but she always maintained she was raped.

Re: Woman denies false rape claim against police recruit
Yeah I was listening to that,
However, we've always known that we're harder down here than the North Island, we've just (up until now) kept it quiet, we don't want North Islanders invading this place, in their Remuera tractors trying to learn how it's done.
The North Islanders seem to moan and whinge when ever the temperature up there drops below 15C.
Try -7C in the mornings, with a maximum temp of 3C during the day, working outside, no air conditioned offices down here.

Re: Woman denies false rape claim against police recruit
"I hate these guys that say these words... 'She asked for it.' I hope that's what the people in jail will tell to them... 'You asked for it.' " RV
You "ask for it" simply by being in jail, especially if you are a rapist or child molester. You are a walking target and need a jail within a jail for your protection. Now think about this from the perspective of a man who has been falsely accused of raping a woman, and you begin to understand at least some of this Mens' Rights, Antimisandry business.

Re: Woman denies false rape claim against police recruit
Update and end.
http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/2290...uit-thrown-outA police recruit, who had a rape charge against him thrown out by a court today, faces an uncertain future as police decide whether to keep him on.
In the High Court at Wellington Justice Ronald Young dismissed a charge of rape against Mark James Tulloch, 31.
Justice Young ruled the complainant's evidence was not credible to instruct a jury.
After the charge was dismissed, Mr Tulloch told NZPA he was considering his plans for the future and was waiting to hear the outcome of his employment evaluation by the New Zealand Police.
A police media spokeswoman declined to comment on what future Mr Tulloch faced with the police, saying it was now an employment issue.
Mr Tulloch said the allegation had stained his reputation and would continue to affect his life and work.
"It's a big wake-up call. If you have casual sex and you are a male and a police officer, you are a target," he said.
"I believe that if a guy gets into this situation, if you are not lucky enough to have a good lawyer and a good private investigator, there's a good chance you'll be found guilty."
Tulloch said having to repeatedly explain he didn't do it to friends and family was "absolutely shocking".
His name had not been suppressed and he was suspended from police college after the allegation was made.
He was also suspended from the territorial army.
In court yesterday, defence lawyer Mike Antunovic said the solo mother of three had an extensive history of making false complaints.
They included one against her current partner of assaulting her and molesting her daughter, two other rape complaints and a $14,000 jewellery theft by a former flatmate.
The woman had also previously been committed to hospital for mental illness and had boasted to a flatmate she was going to be "bigger than Louise Nicholas" and would "have the jury eating out of the palm of her hand".
Mr Tulloch and the complainant met on the website www.NZDating.co.nz, moving from chatting online, to cellphone messages, finally having sex at the woman's house.
Mr Tulloch said today he was now looking to police to follow up on the woman's false complaints that turned the last year of his life into hell.
Off topic.
If you are in Australia of NZ or maybe in Europe, watch out for this journalist NZPA. You will see quite a bit of his work for men.
I know about this journalist because he was active on men's sites when I started. But he is offshore doing his work. And no!, he is not in Asia.
Always be aware that things are not what they seem.

Re: Woman denies false rape claim against police recruit Once again, a man who could have had a bright future, has his name and image plastered all over the media and his reputation shot to bits.
And also once again his accuser, gets nothing in the way of punishment.
What's wrong with this picture?
Personally, I would give Mr Tulloch a job tomorrow, as I feel he has done nothing wrong, I feel really sorry for him.
If I were him, I'd be starting legal proceedings for a "defamation of character" hearing, justice has not been done yet.
