Tidworth girl withdraws rape allegation

A police investigation was sparked after a girl made an allegation
that she was raped but the allegation has now been withdrawn.

The girl had told detectives she was grabbed from behind and
dragged into a wooded area near Beech Hill Road, in Tidworth,
on October 21.

But Wiltshire Police said she had withdrawn the allegation and
officers are now working with her to establish why she made
the allegations.

Investigating officer Det Insp Matthew Johnson said: "The teenager has since withdrawn the allegation and officers are satisfied from their inquiries that she has not been the victim of a sexual assault."
