On this police officer's message board, there was recently a thread discussing a false rape case in the UK: Jail for false rape claim

In response, one officer wrote:

In other words, he/she estimates that 90% of the rape allegations he/she has dealt with, were false.

Another officer then wrote in response:

LOL! Nice, frosty! We should definitely be playing this up before some specific people start trying to downplay this, though the officer is probably already labeled as a misogynist.

I had a few with a pal last night...he recounted his near miss with a false rape matter. He broke up with his long term GF. And she was so angry she was continually threatening crying rape...and had backing to "go ahead" from her family. Luckily one of their mutual friends put a stop to it. My buddy was scared for weeks about it at the time. Now that years have passed...his old GF is in the acquaintance you see 1-2 times a year category and is like "well l was mad". She doesn't seem to realize that she could have destroyed my friends career and life. Even if you later get exonerated...many people will think the man got away with something or got off on a technicality like OJ Simpson and his double murder. With the passing of time now many more people across the demographics think OJ did it.

There really should be more perjury charges. That is what a false rape claim involves. And then the sentence for it would depend on what was being claimed and how far along things went. As in the rape lie went on for 3 years and a man has been in jail for 2 1/2 years = the woman MUST do serious jail time and be held responsible financially to compensate the man.

It would also help if there were big press releases in the newspapers that so and so was released from jail and was INNOCENT. This can help the community give the guy a break.

In my case my exe attacked me and it got out in my community that there was domestic violence incidents. Everyone thought it was me attacking my wife. So not only did I not receive support from my community, but in court noone would help me. When I go food shopping there are still some women who turn their cart away when they see me...they think I'm some violent guy. There is nothing I can say to them to change their mind. And my exe is not about to correct them. If my local paper could let folks know it sure would be more comfortable for me. It's like I am branded as evil to many people who just assume that ONLY men are violent. The average person has no idea that DV is actually 50/50. If they did and they heard that there was DV in my marriage / divorce they would wonder who was doing what. Instead I was blamed.

So I know something about false accusations.

Another point of course is the do-nothing courts which allow men to go through so much crap. If they simply followed existing laws that would be a major help. Who woulda thunk that the courts will not follow the law??!?

Well said. "An eye for an eye." The rape liar must do whatever time the man did or would have done and pay all lost wages plus punitive damges. Further, she must be put on the sex offender registry, lose her right to vote and be banned from working with kids and going to bars and clubs. Women and girls have got to learn that "crying rape" is not something you do simply because "I was mad." If they do, then they are simply not equal to men.

Although no copper would publically admit to such a high rate of false allegations - that these guys admit to on an anonymous forum. It's a similar sentiment I see expressed on a similar blog http://coppersblog.blogspot.com/

I'd also agree with Akuus and Stan, that "crying rape" must be seen as socially unacceptable, not a convenient tool for revenge, benefit or excuse, etc, and as such - must attract an equally harsh sentence had the innocent man been wrongly found guilty.

The myth still prevails that false allegations are rare. Rape is rare! And looking at conviction rates in the UK for rape between 2005-6, just 5.2% of those charged with rape were found guilty by a jury of their peers. Of course, feminists predictably claim that men are escaping justice, but considering the exhaustive investigation that goes into each rape case - I beg to differ.

You could equally make a case for men being wrongly jailed. Even if you allowed 1 or 2 percent to factor in a negative hypothetical, we'd still be looking at 90% plus of allegations being false - which tallies with what the copper stated in the quote (from his personal caseload).

Of course, great pressure is placed upon the copper in the street right up to the Chief Superintendent (?) to dare not speak the truth about false allegations - lest he be subject to discipline or the sack.

Question: Did the law do the right thing here? (Watch the video) On the one hand by promising immunity...the rape claims were dropped...and a man was not jailed. On the other hand the police and whole community was in upheaval for months and the two women get to carry on with no charges, sanctions, or any inconveniences. If they make a false claim again...it cannot be more carefully scrutinized since their false claims are not "official"?

Slander, it's a grrl thang.

Scary indeed, but what the police learn from such incidents does not seem to carry over to rape accusations made against private citizens! Men who don't happen to be cops lose everything that they have worked their entire lives for in an instant due to false rape accusations all the time. Yet, police still sympathize with the women and throw innocent men in jail BEFORE doing their investigations!
