A tennis coach cleared of rape said he was left jobless and struggling to pay his rent after the allegation was made against him.

But Nabil Litim, 26, of Willowbrook, Cutteslowe, Oxford, who was acquitted by a jury at Oxford Crown Court yesterday said he had forgiven the woman who accused him.

The jury had deliberated for six hours and 22 minutes before returning their not guilty verdict yesterday.

When asked how he felt about the woman, who cannot be named, and her friend who gave evidence against him, he said: "I am very sad that our acquaintance was to be followed by this allegation. I would have wished our acquaintance to have continued in different, more friendly circumstances.

"However, people do make mistakes and I have forgiven them for that mistake."

During the trial the court heard Mr Litim picked up the woman and her friend at Kebab Kid in Cowley Road, in his BMW coupe.

The jury was told the friend got out of the car before Litim drove to a car park in Wolvercote where he and the woman had sex.

The woman then rang the police to report the incident as rape, but Mr Litim has always maintained the sex was consensual.

Mr Litim, a French Algerian who came to England in 2002 to work as a tennis coach, said: "My contract at work was terminated due to the allegation that was made against me, also my good character was diminished.

"I found it difficult to pay my rent, my mobile telephone contract was cancelled and I ran up an overdraft."

He said he could have sold his car to pay off his debts, but police had taken it away to use as evidence.

He said: "I understand why it was used as evidence."

He added he wanted to thank his friends who stood by him and believed his story from the beginning.

He said: "There are a long list of people I need to thank.

"I want to thank the British justice system for its fairness and providing me with support, and all the parties involved in this case who provided me with legal advice.

"Now I would like a fresh start and to move forward."

This poor guy has already endured a far worse punishment than the "crime" he was falsely accused of. "Something is rotten in Denmark"

The guy says: I have forgiven the woman

When you read the long list of all the horrors he has had to endure since the minging cow made this false allegation I can't make up my mind whether the bloke is some kind of saint, a raving lunatic or a raving mangina.

Either way he is a "better" man than I am, Gunga Din. I'd have maintained the strong urge to shove her off Beachy Head on a stormy day.

Can anyone say "Stockholm Syndrom"?

The guy is obviously not thinking clearly from his ordeal. He also said, ""I want to thank the British justice system for its fairness and providing me with support,..."

If the Injustice System had been "fair" they would never have cost him his job and sent him to trial. He's suffering from severe emotional stress, and resultant mental problems. He's been a captive of the system so long and under so much horror that he's now siding with the terrorists. He now believes that they were "right" and "fair" to capture and terrorize an innocent man. Classic Stockholm Syndrom.

He's probably on the verge of suicide and he doesn't know why. It will take him a few years to recover a normal mental state so he can understand the horror he's been through. After that happens he may regain persepctive.

Yeah, right.......he really isn't thinking straight.

The whole affair has seriously unbalanced the bloke and given him a distorted view of reality. Give him a little more time and he really will come to visualise the British judicial system for what it really is....anything but fair!
