Either way, in case after case, I read about cops listening to the fabricated story of some psychotic slattern, running out and arresting (naming and depicting in the news, medically humiliating, etc.) the falsely accused, THEN actually getting around to examing the evidence, er...lack thereof, before letting the man go free. Sorry. I no longer buy it. Cops need to change their SOP: take the complaint, examine the accuser's story, and, if it holds up, then make an arrest. Barney Fife could figure that out. I hold the police responsible for making this false rape hoax epidemic viable for unstable and malicious women.

You are correct in pointing out the perverse incentive by police departments all over of federal money, and a lot of it, flowing in from the VAWA. Money permeates the entire law enforcement and justice establishment and if you don't believe me then look at the multi $billion drug war that has been raging to no effect for the past 30 years. Think of all the recipients of the VAWA: rape crisis centers, battered woman’s shelters, expensive special crime units. And very little accountability comes along with this money. This is especially the case with woman’s shelters which are not very nice places and whose managers are corrupt. It's true! How could it not be? We are talking about money here.

I would have jailed her for the mid term of what he would have served. Court is always a gamble, and things happen... There are plenty of innocent people in prison.

I've gotta agree with you, the police are in part to blame. And, while I know a lot of hard working cops that are a credit to the force; there are also a lot of putzes who make Barney Fife look like a Supercop.

Think about how we manage our law enforcement system? You get paid peanuts to take abuse from assholes all day, you'll work longer hours than most other jobs, and odds are your wife will leave you because of "the stress" or "lack of money" or just because you're not around that much.

You won't always get the best and brightest unless you're lucky enough to have someone sign up out of a sense of duty. Those select few, if I was a Chief, would be used for the high profile, proactive law enforcement that interdicts crimes before they happen. Drug enforcement, organized crime, etc. Homicide and "SVU" would get the next level.

Maybe we should blame the police maybe we shouldn't!
The cops are paid nickles to uphold the law and harass minorities wonder out of their natural habitat!
What else can we expect from the thugs of the state?
