A WOMAN who sparked a police hunt after claiming to have been raped on Viking Bay in Broadstairs has been charged with wasting police time.

The 42-year-old had accused two men of attacking her in September last year.

She reported the crime to police in the early hours of Sunday September, 6 claiming that two unknown men had raped her.

Police spent days investigating the allegations, spending around £40,000.

Two men were arrested but statements taken from other people on the beach at the time of the alleged attack revealed contradictions.

On Wednesday February, 3 the woman from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of wasting police time and making a false statement and admitted that she had made up the incident.

District Commander for Thanet, Chief Inspector Mitchell Fox said: “This was very unusual and out of character for Broadstairs, which has a deserved reputation as a very safe place to live, work and visit.”

Detective Inspector Lee Whitehead, who led the investigation said “We would like to reassure the community that all allegations of this nature are treated seriously and thoroughly investigated. Victims of such crimes are always treated with great discretion and sensitivity. Any allegations proved to be false are also treated seriously and dealt with accordingly. False allegations undermine genuine victims of sexual assault and divert police resources away from what we should be concentrating on.”

yeah , but the real victims are often the guys they drag out of work or home
to the police station for interrogation. what do they even say to these guys
when they admit it was false. "...........your free to go"

nevermind that their reputation is ruined and may have lost their job and friends.

i have no idea.
different people have different solutions i guess.

you and kill them...you and can kill yourself...you can try to change it
politically , you can go into hiding. you can sit around and write books
about it.

i don't know , i don't think about it that often.

Is it about time that women who falsley accuse men of rape , were given the same sentance as the alleged rapist would have got ?
Rape is a most evil crime , and these women are trivialising it . They are making it harder for the genuine victims , as well as ruining the lives of innocent men

but they will still say those two were arrested for rape !!

their arrest is what gave that wimyn a buzz;

she will be beaten with a cannery feather now to teach her a lesson
