Follow the link as the table is not properly formated here. Men are almost always leading except in rural regions of china and most of the time 3-5 times as much as women. Quote:

One of the most astonishing things about this 2007 Suicide Statistics list is that the United Kingdom figures for both males and females are so low comparatively speaking! We must be a happier bunch of guys than I thought. Our suicide rates are the lowest in Europe, and lower than those of most other Western countries. I wonder why that is? Of course, every suicide is a personal tragedy, but compared with most other countries we either don't have the balls to top ourselves or we are a lot happier with our lot than we realise! Cool! ![]() Another amazing thing is the very high rates in Eastern European countries, especially among the males. Hopefully they will now start to fall now that they are now mostly member states of the EU. I don't give a toss what feminazis say, female longevity rates are consistently higher than those of males for the simple reason that women really do have it easier, all in all. OK they have the issues of childbirth, monthly periods, mood swings and so called issues of "self worth" and "low esteem problems" and emotional hangups and all that kind of stuff, but when the chips are down it's the males who are the real victims of life for the most part for a whole variety of reasons. For much of the time all women need do is lie down and think of England while the men keep the wheels turning, and that in itself presents all manner of dangers injurious to male well being and preservation. There I've said it as it is and I won't allow any feminazi feminist to even dare contradict me or else I will shoot her down in flames in an instant!!! | |||

Apparently, women are not a gender... On this page, there's a study for: "Gender and women's mental health" Yes, you read that right - women don't belong under the umbrella of gender.

http://www.suicidereferencelibrary.c...t4~id~1609.php Official suicide statistics in the UK are based on coroners? verdicts. In the case of a suspected suicide an inquest will be held, but the victim?s intention to commit suicide must be definitely proven. In the absence of any clear proof of intent, the verdict is unlikely to be suicide. Such deaths are likely to be classified as ?death by misadventure?, ?accidental death?, or there will be an ?open? verdict. These deaths assigned to injury of undetermined intention are included within official suicide statistics in an attempt o provide a more accurate estimate of the true levels of suicide in the UK. Estimates suggest the true suicide rate is 50-60 per cent higher than the official rate === Some say open verdicts should be included in all suicide research ======= The Department of Health's (1999) Saving Lives: Our Healthier Nation includes all open verdicts in with suicides when setting national targets for suicide reduction. ========= http://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/pressparlia...006/pr898.aspx Adolescent Suicides Underestimated Embargoed until 01 June 2007 Using current methods of identifying suicides, a significant proportion of suicides by adolescents will not be included in official figures, a new study has found. Published in the June issue of the Psychiatric Bulletin, the study investigated how much reliance on suicide verdicts underestimates probable suicides. Although relatively rare, suicide is in the top 3 causes of death for adolescents. The Office for National Statistics defines suicides as deaths where the coroner has given a verdict of suicide, or where an open verdict (undetermined cause) was reached in a death from injury or poisoning. Coroners have a very high threshold for giving suicide verdicts, particularly for young people. In a study of suicide it is thus important to include deaths that probably represent suicide, but received other verdicts. In this study, all unnatural deaths of those aged 8-18 years in West Yorkshire between 1996 and 2002 were identified from the death register. This age range was chosen because age 8 is generally held as the youngest age at which a child may have the level of cognitive development required to formulate genuine suicidal intentions, and age 18 is the upper limit for many child and adolescent mental health teams. Deaths that had verdicts other than ‘killed him- or herself’, and were not obviously accidental, were reviewed by a panel of 3 consultant child and adolescent psychiatrists to determine whether they were probable suicides. Of the 40 deaths without suicide verdicts reviewed by the panel, 13 were identified as probable suicides. 6 of these had an open verdict, 6 were death by self-hanging classified as misadventure, and 1 was an overdose with a verdict of accidental death. These 13 deaths, plus the 7 with a coroner’s verdict of suicide, gave a total of 20 probable suicides. Thus reliance on suicide verdicts alone would have underestimated the number of suicides by 65%. Of the 20 total deaths, official statistics included only the 7 with suicide verdicts and the 6 deaths by injury that received open verdicts. Therefore the official suicide statistics excluded a third of the deaths. The authors of the study comment that suicide statistics and targets need to take into account the fact that, using current methods, a significant proportion of suicides by adolescents will not be included in official figures. The underestimation in official statistics leads to youth suicide not being specifically targeted in policies and guidelines. If not identified as suicides, these deaths will not be subject to the local audits that each primary care trust must undertake, and so any learning or resource implications highlighted by the deaths will be lost. Unless the burden of proof of suicide required is reduced, or a more accurate way is found of estimating these deaths, a proportion of youth suicides will be lost to national statistics and the prevention of these deaths will not be given the priority or resources that it deserves, say the authors. ================= "Statistics about suicide are difficult to collate, and may be inaccurate because of the sensitivity of the issue, particularly in countries where suicide is an absolute taboo." Suicides at 2,150 per year shows no one give a damn except the occassional charity. Government keep their head in the sand about it as well. They did try to start a "female" anti-suicide program when they realised that 18% of suicides were actually happening. Incomprehensible.. 2150 Suicides a year calculates at almost 6 per day every day for the year.. Quote:
