I am looking for some information as to the causes of sexual violence. Specifically, if the way a woman dresses and acts can be a contributing factor. Does anyone have any ideas?

I found a study done by the Centers for Disease Control, but there was no mention of it. Seems like 99% of what's available is produced by feminist think-tanks (i.e. universities).

I'm going to search ways to keep yourself from being raped, and I was thinking of contacting the local police agency, but I may not go that far. Don't want to draw attention to myself from the PC culture...

Personally I think the way a woman dresses can have a small part to play in sexual violence some sick asshats may think that if a woman dresses provacatively then she must want it. But for the most part I think it comes from men who have felt unloved by women and have mental deficiencies mixed in. For saftey go out in numbers walk with confidence some of these whacko's feed on fear. Take taxi's when you can as the will pick you up in well lit areas. Never ever use your key as a weapons especialy between the fingers the keys will act like a lever and often do more damage to the defender your nails are much better they will cause gashes and collect evidence at the same time. Never yell rape yell fire people are more likely to go to a fire than they are to go to a rape as many involve weapons but once a person sees the assualt they are more likely to help or call for help anyway. And sadly if you do not think you can escape sometimes submission will keep you alive. Some of these sicko's will kill if they are scared enough. Submission is only an option if you have already overpowered and cannot escape.

Sorry, I don't have any helpful statistics, but I will say that I don't believe the way a woman dresses or acts plays a very large part. Most men wouldn't be sexually violent with a woman regardless of how she acts or dresses. I think the men who are sexually violent, do rape, generally have a whole lot of other stuff going on. I'd bet (Kim's hypothesis here) that most men that sexually assault women were very messed up by women as children. I've always thought that very bad moms=very messed up men. I would think there would be statistics out there somewhere that show a man who does commit such acts was abused/abandoned/neglected....by his mother.

I agree with Kim and think most guys who would do such were violent minded already. Being sexy would bring attention from most males. So any bad guy would take notice too.

I watched a program and this young guy was going to the chair for the brutal rape and murder of a elderly Lady in her 80's. All I can say is he was one really really sick dude. Seriously I can't see it as anything other than motivation of the violent kind.

A show about serial killers of prostitutes suggested that most of the killers thought of their Mothers as whores or prostitutes. Charles Mansons Mother was supposedly a prostitute. I doubt he killed any women for that reason.

theres probably lots of reasons men rape, low self esteem, violent background, overt provocation, unequal sexual power relationships between the sexes,

but none is any excuse, and these men are monsters. Any state that employs the death penalty, frying people in an electric chair, is as guilty as the people it kills.

if you want to stop violence, it has to start with the state.

What about women's sexual violence towards men, that should covered as well, I man causes a women to sexual mulitlate a man for and I think such a crime should be delt with the same stiff laws that men get for raping a women

Dealing with violence in my opinion is more to do with allowing folk to defend themselves than leaving it to the state to decide later what happened..

Agreed and that both men and women who engage in violence aginst men or women should be trated equally so that mean if some women starts attacking a guy the man has the right to defend himself by what ever means he deems nessacery and once the therat is delt with then the cops figuer how who was right or worng without having a notaion that the is automatic in the worng because he's a man, you take away all the unfair and unequal advanges that women have and treat them equally in the eyes of the law then things will start to settle down once the hate movement stops and then both men and women can try trust and love one another which will take some time but in the end both men and women will get back to their natures and soctiety will change for the better.
