Whoa, holster that thar six shooter, stranger. We're peaceable folk around here.

My fault, I am guessing, for putting issues in the personal arena with Jools.

One can talk in conceptual terms, you know, Tera. Draw lessons from others or yourself or literature or observation. But this is not a beating up thread. Or a self-flagellation one.

We have mostly all had reason to sit nursing a shotgun waiting for the beast to come home; for most of us here it has worn a skirt though.

Let me say something personal and hope it helps.

I have struggled with personal integrity all my life. I try my damnest to be a nice chap with an eye to 'fairness', honesty and 'doing the right thing'. I fail a lot more often than I succeed. I have a rope ladder down into deep reaches in my mind where dragons lurk. As a lad I tried killing them but the beasts grow new heads ! They are part of me. It is a 'play-off sometimes between Integrity (as seen from an outside observer) and Authenticity (another 'code' feature that is essential). The dark sides of me, my baser instincts if you like, are as much an authentic part of me as the angels that hide in the attic and jeer between plucking their damned harps. Some are not even 'dark', but perhaps incongrous in the wide contexts of social life. We are all a mixture of disparate things which need integration before Integrity (the wholeness issue) can be achieved.

Killing them is no answer. I try the net and the cage. I try singing to the damned beasts. I let them out to play from time to time and they are a bugger to shove back down the shaft.

    Being human is not easy.

It is far easier to deal with other people than with oneself when one is seeking to nurture Integrity.
Sorry Percy...I admit I got a bit carried away. I hadn't intended to...but it happened just the same. I apologize. I wasn't trying to hurt anyone.

There are parts of me that are dark. I don't like the darkness. It distresses me and sometimes it even scares me.

Ouch. That's being a little too honest.

    Kim says...

Perhaps those who attempt to share a code do so because they've also had the 'serious issues' and have had to find a way to survive. Perhaps their advice comes from having been to the dark and ugly places; having fought their way out on their own and now, having done so, they hope to help others find their way.....to share the pathway out.
    Deep Kim. Very deep.

No offence taken; none noted. No apologies needed, M'dear.

    Human beings are scary !

    We like the lighter parts.

It is such with the discussion on exhibitionism. It is a dragon, albeit a small one. It can grow huge however if fed on Big Macs. It is real and has a need for expression. The person of Integrity will find way amd 'means' of 'permiting' expression within integrated bounds. Those 'means' need to be consistent with a 'wholeness'.

Julie, have you read the Quran?

TERA, everyone on Earth has boundary issues. I guess the only way to not allow others and improve our boundary to rob our emotional resources is by saying no... And trusting people is a complicated thing. And I read somewhere something about suffering. Suffering is trying to control the past, future or other people(violating their boundaries). I realized that after I accepted my past mistakes and put more effort into the present, instead of crying about how I won't achieve my future helped me with the suffering part.

And that's pretty much how I felt for a long time.

    Read Surah 9. :P

And 4:24 and 4:34 is pretty interesting too. I guess Muslims teach commitment to a marriage by letting the husbands have intercourse with the slaves they have - which I doubt that were really happy to have sexual relations with someone that forces them to work. I can go on with verses from their "holy" book that instigate to bad things, but it's pretty pointless.

And Muhammed was acting like a slave trader and paedophile in the Hadiths. I don't see how that male represents anything like virtue. Of course, he needed to get more male adherents to his non-sense to be able to go to war and letting them rape others lands and women was a pretty worthy cause.

And Islam means submission, not acceptance.

I don't see how loyalty, self-restraint, discipline, dignity, justice, tolerance, respect, purity are values related to their religion.

Maybe absolutely all the translations of the Hadiths and Koran are false because I checked them all and all say similar things and this is the biggest cop out of Muslims. I really don't get how 3-4 different translations say a similar thing, yet the original thing would say something different. If there is a Muslim here who read the Koran in Arabic, I'm really looking forward to finding out what some verses say in the original book.

    RV, here's a thought.

Add the pieces you want translated in a comment.

At the bottom of this page there is ..... well, there isn't any more.

I think we have access to translate something from one language to another through software Marx bought and added. There may be someone who can help with this.

Add it and we will see what we can find.

Julie, the problem is that you can't really copy paste the stuff written in Arabic where I found the Koran in Arabic since they're picture like things, not text. And where I found them written in Arabic, they meant what the translators said.

If you feel like playing with it. I tried 9:29 and it says the same about fighting unbelievers and so on.

Doing the right thing in life is very difficult, sometimes impossible, when one is bound with folk doing the wrong thing!
