California Court Rules Against Homeschooling

While I hate to attribute myself with any powers of precognition....I do have to exclaim a resounding, "I knew it!" Jump back in time 11 years with me. My husband and I had decided it was time to leave California and return to my native state to raise our two young children, then ages 1 and 3. We'd discussed the pros and cons (most of them being cons) of raising our children in California and decided it was time to pack things up. I remember saying that although we could homeschool our children (the only option we would consider as far as education in Southern CA), that I could see it being only a matter of time before they passed a law preventing parents from schooling their children at home.

Jump back to current times and, sure enough, CA has done just that. A state appeals court ruling two weeks ago held that parents who teach their kids at home must have a teaching credential.

Did you get that?

Parents have to be accredited in order to teach their children. Apparently, merely being their parent no longer qualifies one to teach or decide the best interests of your child.

I would like to say I'm surprised by this....but I'm not. It's merely another in a series of CA rulings aimed to undermine the family and elimate the role of parents in the lives of their children.

If California parents choose to teach their children traditional values that promote the nuclear family the children will be indoctrinated differently in the school system and sent in for reconditioning if they reject the indoctrination.

Under SB 777, schoolchildren as young as kindergarten will be sexually indoctrinated and introduced to homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality, regardless of their parents feelings or beliefs on the matter. Not only will they be introduced to these concepts but they will be promoted as acceptable variations on traditional lifestyles.

Unsurprisingly, due to legislation such as SB 777, more and more California parents have felt their only option in raising their children as THEY see fit is in removing them from the public school system and teaching them at home. The powers that be, seeing their efforts to impose their own views and morality impeded, have countered by passing legislation effectively ruling that parents are not fit to educate their own children.

Australia has argued back and forth for donkey's years about education. Here it is pluralist. We have State Schools and Private schools (oddly in the UK, private schools are called Public schools) and Church schools - of pretty well all faiths imaginable.

Doesn't the US have the same? And what of 'Military' schools?

We also have homeschooling and a national 'School of the Air' for the many children in remote stations (farms) in the bush where the kids are at home but linked by radio.

I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it.
But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up.

you make THE difference.

Re: California Court Rules Against Homeschooling

The purpose of confining children in state institutions is to train them to be docile adults who have been trained to do and think as they are told.

It is a great mistake to assume that schools are intended to teach readin' writin' and 'rithmatic. Those are only the busy work used to divert attention from the underlying probram of subjugation and loss of individual freedom. They teach conformity. They teach moral values (or lack thereof). They teach lack of self worth, no matter what you were doing their bell may always interrupt you and you must confrom or be punished.

California is one of the US States where conformity with the liberal state program is more important even than most. They don't want children escaping the conformity training and becoming free men. They are scared of free men. Free men do not go along with the program, don't move in lock step when the goernment rings a bell. They don't want any children to escape and become free men.

The literacy rate in the US was HIGHER before children and young men and women were forcibly confined into state instiutions (youth prisons). Most young men and women would be much better served if they were all burned to the ground.

For more on the real history and teaching of the school system here is a really good web site by the "NY Teacher OF the

Year"http://www.johntaylorgatto.com/hp/frames.htm

Blessings

Bob

Re: California Court Rules Against Homeschooling

If parents want to home school their kids why not? It is not the States business.

I wish I was home schooled instead of being in a class with 35 kids, you don't get anytime to get help, it was like a processing plant in a way.

I have met some home schooled kids and they are far ahead of the public schools.

I hate to make broad assertions but I think the public education system in Canada is a flipping joke, your not even prepared for when school ends either.....sickening really.

Hi Bob,

I agree with you 100% education is nothing more than "Brainwashing"

Here is a quote which I know you will like:

"In our dream, we have limitless resources, and the people yield themselves with perfect docility to our molding hand.

The present educational conventions fade from our minds; and, unhampered by tradition, we work our own good will upon a grateful and responsive folk.

We shall not try to make these people or any of their children into philosophers or men of learning or science.

We are not to raise up from among them authors, orators, poets, or men of letters.

We shall not search for embryo great artists, painters, musicians.

Nor will we cherish even the humbler ambition to raise up from among them lawyers, doctors, preachers, politicians, statesmen, of whom we now have ample supply"

Pretty much, Percy. We have the public school system, private schools, military schools, charter schools and home schooling.

Charter schools have gained a bit of popularity in my area. They are government funded and have to meet the same educational standards but have greater flexibility in establishing curriculum. They are generally more limited in what they can offer the children in the way of sports programs and such, but there are fewer children per classroom and the parents play a much greater role than in traditional public schools.

Re: California Court Rules Against Homeschooling

I recall someone here posted a story from a UK man who lives in Denmark. He describes a docile and completely brainwashed society. For these people, the state is all that matters, they are totally dependent on it.These people no longer think or question anything. Its like a section of their brain has been removed.
