The principal of Auckland's Westlake Girls High School is hoping her students will escape criminal charges after an end of year prank went wrong.
About 25 Year 13 students hurled a mixture of eggs and flour at cars they thought were owned by their rivals at Westlake Boys High School. What they did not realise was the cars, including a brand new Mercedes, belong to nearby residents.
Westlake Girls High School Principal Alison Gernhoefer says the girls have caused $3,500 of damage. She says one resident has complained to the police, but she is hoping that will blow over.
Ms Gernhoefer says it is unfortunate the girls chose to use eggs and flour, instead of the smarter option of water bombs.
