Homeless female vets seek shelter - Military

Well according to this article female veterans are more in need of services than male veterans.

The female example they use in the article didn't even serve in a war or even in a war zone yet she somehow deserves more services than I do.

I am a disabled vet who has been homeless and I never received services to get me into a shelter nor did anyone check me for PTSD until last year.

After fighting and being wounded in a war I am not considered as important as she is.

I wish I had it so rough as her {note the gold rings on her hands}.

I was bayoneted in the chest and still have shrapnel in my body nearly 20 years after the war. She has scoliosis.

I will end up in a whellchair from the shrapnell left in my body yet she somehow deserves more services than me and my brothers in arms.

They gave a number of 8 to 9 thousand female veterans are homeless but did you see the other number of total veterans that are homeless it was in the hundred thousand mark so what 100 to 1 ratio of male to female homelessness and somehow she is a victim of some sort of discrimination.

I wonder how our resident feminists think of this. I bet it is along the lines of male veterans being disposable and female veterans need to be cherished and upheld as heroes for doing less than their male counterparts.

This just makes me so mad after constantly hearing that men don't get DV shelters because not enough of us need them now we hear how famale veterans who are in a similar minority must not only have the exact same services as men but specialized services directed only at them.

Now I think it is shameful for ANY veteran to be homeless male or female.

But when they start putting female non combat vets above disabled male combat vets it just pisses me off to no end.

I read the article. Wow she gets to move into a new apartment in a new building put up just for other female veterans. This is outrageous.

I don't know what to tell you to do...but I can tell you that there is way too much female favoritism. I have seen and heard about so much of it in Family Court. Often women waltz in there on a red carpet ride to checks, cash, and benefits without any responsibility and no consequences if the kids get harmed or she does not feel like letting them see Dad.

I read this to him and he says this is sick. He can't believe it.

I don't know what to say that can make this situation any less hurtful but I can tell you that our young men seem to have taken up an extraordinary respect for veterans and have the yearning to learn from them regardless of how our system is feminising them. Maybe this is what it is to be Masculine. They search out good men as role models.

I wouldn't encourage any man in any Western society to join the military. Fighting for a nation that hates you doesn't make much sense.

I too am a veteran but I was never in a war nor was I injured. I don't regret my time in the military but knowing what I know today...I wouldn't join.

I say we let the "smarter and better at everything" gender take over the protection duties.

Chev, you have absolutely every right to be angry. Female vets do not deserve more resources or benefits than do males.

I take my hat off to any person that has actually served in a combat situation.
Having said that, I would do the same, selflessly and without any recognition, mainly because, if you are male there will be no recognition.

So this "vet" has scoliosis, eh?, that is a congenital birth defect (aka Curved Spine ), one that is more common in women than men, not one you get from any sort of battle related activity, you are born with it.

This sort of thing cheapens the memory of all good soldiers that have died for their country, over the years and also the ones that were horrendously disfigured in REAL combat.
