We all tear DV stats to pieces from time to time and criticise their validity, but few of us have any idea of how they are collected. With Authorities such as the CDC or Dept of Justice or even Aust Bureau of Statistics name behind them, they are supposed to tell us 'officially' what the score is. The appeal to Authority fallacy stands proudly in defence of crap.

And we are used to aggregated numbers - without deductions for all the false allegations.
