Women are the solution...
Video here: The Unlikely Expat: Women and Girls Are the Solution, Not the Problem
So many things wrong with that small quote........
Quote from Sheryl WuDunn
Later in the video [13:50], there is a story about a family who got a goat that had twins. One goat, two kids - how does that work? I think there are a few missing links in her speech.
The video does prove, however, that "those poor farmers" are probably a lot more intelligent than "our Harvard graduates".Our society puts a premium on beauty; common in declining cultures.

Re: Women are the solution...
I personally thought it was a well-researched, well presented piece. She wasn't talking about the first world, guys. She was talking about the third world, where the things she said are true. The stories of the family with the goat and the woman who started the embroidery business were great success stories. Plus, I'm pretty sure they send goats to families with sons as well, it's just that that wasn't the focus of her talk.
Sam, how did you get to women joining the labor force from that?

Re: Women are the solution...
Why stop at the labor force? Let's bring more women to the front lines on the battlefield and have them join the NFL. Then lets sit back and watch them blunder one after another as they spew excuses for their failings.

Greed is for amateurs.
Knowledge without wisdom is a load of books on the back of an ass.
Scorn and mockery towards men in need is one of the reasons feminism is dying as we speak!.

Re: Women are the solution...
Women are the solution? No they are actually part of the problem. Hell, men are as well and here's why I say this. There is a law about Violence against Women (which is sexist in both ways), Affirmative Action (where they and minorities get jobs just for being just that), heck there is privileges that women enjoy like alimony and abused girlfriend/wife etc benefits (this is true) most at the expense of, well you know.
Problem is WE as a society are taught treat an entire gender as being like our children. We have also been taught that they probably could never do no wrong. Look at the cases where women get lighter sentences than men. We can never fight them, put our hands on them etc etc. It's pretty wrong to do so and the government is a huge factor in this. Oh and what the government is mostly consisted of? Men. And these men are idolized by other men, I mean look at our president. It seems like I am rambling but the solution to the gender problem is to retrain our thinking and treat everyone with full equality. Good and bad.http://haruhiclse.livejournal.com/

Re: Women are the solution...
Oh. Well that wasn't what it was about at all. In any way. But you're right. It was presented by a woman. Which automatically makes it a feminist rant that should be ignored.
Kinda like when men post about real, honest gender inequity for males in the legal system, and they are automatically jeered at because they are men.
Notice any similarities in the approach???
Dude, did anyone watch the video?

Fuck AA, they should either scrap it or change it so that it benefits those with legit disadvantages and or homeless people who want to get their lives back on track.Affirmative Action (where they and minorities get jobs just for being just that)

Yes, well researched, on one side.
Here's a study done in 2009 regarding male/female ratios: GeoHive - Male / Female distribution
It's fairly balanced throughout the world - 102 males to 100 females.
Here some interesting lines:

Other than the countries above, it's pretty level across the board. Our society puts a premium on beauty; common in declining cultures.
