Haiti: WFP sets up 16 food distribution sites in Port-au-Prince, only women can retrieve food
The World Food Program says it has started its first systematic food distribution system for Haiti since the earthquake, establishing 16 sites in the capital where only women can collect food.Last edited by Celtic Druid; 1st-March-2013 at 11:33 PM. Reason: changed to more suitable prefix

Re: WFP establishing Women-only food distribution centers in Haiti
I bet the weaker men that got shoved out of the way have to fend for themselves.Food distribution since the Jan. 12 quake has often been marked by poor coordination, gaps in coverage and desperate, unruly lines of needy people in which young men at times have shoved aside the women and the weak and taken their food. When I do this, and I know I will, it will be comparable to the lame learning to walk, the blind being enabled to see and the suffocated breathing again. The sky isn't the limit; there are no limits.

What an insane idea. There are a plenty of tough women out there.
Most domestic violence is initiated by women attacking their partners, so I'm sure they'd happily attack strangers too if something important was actually at stake.
The food should be for those who are vulnerable.
I.e. those caring for children (regardless of gender!), the very elderly, disabled, injured, sick and heavily pregnant women.
Thinking about it logically - men have significantly higher calorific requirements than women and have lower stores of fat in their bodies, so even if everyone got the same handouts in this situation is actually discriminatory in terms of men's needs.
Would be interesting to find out if they actually give men larger handouts with the extra 500 or so calories they need each day.The Rights of Man - A platform for raising issues about sexual discrimination against men in the UK:

I'm disgusted by this, too. Why must people push and shove and steal food from each other?
They ought to let the kids collect the rations.

I visited Y!A and asked the feminists their thoughts on this hateful outcome... So far, very few known feminists have managed to respond (surprise, surprise):
Shortly after, one person who seems very 'on/off' with feminism & misandry answered:

So I added the following detail:

(Link again)Blue B - I really appreciate your post on this, it's certainly a change from the old 'you' that was intensely hostile towards men.
However, to add to your point - not only does this attitude harm men (as if all men are collecting food with evil intentions) it also puts women on a pedestal (implies not one woman would ever consider keeping the food for herself and somehow is superior to men, as she only has altruistic intentions while men demonstrate only egotistic intentions).
This is, of course, utter and blatant (yet typical of feminism) sexism and hate-fueled promotion of inequality which is detrimental to male humans.►My blog / Your Blog

Re: WFP establishing Women-only food distribution centers in Haiti
I agree, kids need more nutrients, since their bodies are still developing and would be unable to withstand long periods of starvation and thirst. Same goes for the sick, injured, and disabled (who can't fend for themselves depending on their handicap)The food should be for those who are vulnerable.
I.e. those caring for children (regardless of gender!), the very elderly, disabled, injured, sick and heavily pregnant women.
Pregnant women need alot of nutrients too, since they have to care for two people, themselves and an unborn child
Those that are in a far better state can get their own rationsRIP "Lyle Stevik"

Of course they can't because they are guilty and only serve themselves like the typical, social parasites they claim not to be!!

Re: WFP establishing Women-only food distribution centers in Haiti
When women's groups deny food to men they are letting men know they have to fend for themselves.
Men may have stolen directly from women (if this story is true) but considering that women's groups are likely funded with men's tax dollars and are turning men away from food that men paid for those women are just as guilty of stealing. They're just doing it indirectly thru tax dollars. When I do this, and I know I will, it will be comparable to the lame learning to walk, the blind being enabled to see and the suffocated breathing again. Re: WFP establishing Women-only food distribution centers in Haiti
Take this to its logical conclusion. Women get the food and survive; men get turned away and starve. What future will Haiti then have if its male population is either dead or too weak to work?
It will be men who rebuild that country, not women. Just as men have always rebuilt everything after every disaster.
But it appears that some people's hatred of men is now so intense that they would like to experiment with the idea of trying to reconstruct a ravaged country without the maximum input of the male sex. If they got their way, you can write off any future for Haiti.

Re: WFP establishing Women-only food distribution centers in Haiti
So if only women can collect food from these places, how does this stop the weak and vulnerable from being pushed to the side?
It's insulting to assume the lack of men would mean a lack of bad behaviour. I'm sure there are plenty of big women who could easily push aside those weaker than them, so who is helping the really weak? No-one, because it's not about helping people, it's about portraying women as the most vulnerable victim at all times, even over children, the real feminist agenda, fuck those in need of help, we can use this dire situation for our own gain, scum, scum, scum.Hugh & Mary Discuss Feminist Related Issues (ALL SUBTITLED): http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...0081D259987DCD

Re: WFP establishing Women-only food distribution centers in Haiti
It's often the case it's the menfolk who endure privations, discomfort and danger to collect on behalf of their families. It's been this way for thousands of years, but only having women collect rations is clearly suggesting that they are somehow more fairer and moral then men.
But setting up 'apartheid based' distribution centres forges a disturbing precedent that will have wider ramifications for an uncertain future.
I guess we can add the World Food Program to the list of so-called humanitarian agencies contaminated by hateful ideology.Last edited by Celtic Druid; 31st-January-2010 at 11:46 AM.

Women-only food sites open in Haiti

Relief workers began handing out women-only food coupons in Haiti on Sunday in an effort to ensure earthquake relief supplies reach the neediest families.
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) implemented the new distribution plan at 16 sites in the capital, Port-au-Prince, after workers reported that young men were often swarming aid trucks and pushing ahead of women in lineups.
The WFP said the coupons will go to women because they tend to be responsible for the household food supply. The aim is to reach two million people over two weeks.
Each distribution centre will receive 42 tonnes of rice, and each family will receive a 25-kilogram ration of rice, with only women being allowed into distribution sites to collect their share.
The WFP and its partners are promising to work with the local authorities to ensure that men in need of assistance are not excluded.
The latest approach to food distribution comes almost three weeks after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake reduced Port-au-Prince and other cities to rubble and killed as many as 200,000 people.
