Walmart and Betty Boop say: "Boys have feelings too...but who cares?"
My husband and I were in the local Walmart tonight, when I saw a light blue shirt being sold for girls, which read (with a picture of Betty Boop):
"Boys have feelings too....but who cares?"
I got a hold of a manager and complained to him about it....with my %$#$ husband standing right beside me, saying, "Well, I'm a guy and it didn't bother me!"
(see what I have to deal with?)
Anyway, the manager AGREED with me about the shirt (!), and suggested I contact the Walmart headquarters, since they are the ones who decide what to order, etc.
I just sent an email to them; I found out a Mr John Fleming is their chief of merchandising, so maybe address the email to him.
Here is the link, if anyone else wants to complain as well:

Good for you Annette. I have read stuff from other groups that you need a lot of lobbying to go against walmart. I guess this is because the board is out of touch with what the stores go through.
I have often thought about scheming.
What would happen if I had 200 e-mail addresses and wrote 200 e-mails against some company? I wonder if anyone else thinks this way?
I have heard of people with the most up to date software to scheme things to win competitions on radios and the like.
Could not some smart arse male (very clever guy) who is a computer fan not make this possible?Ignorance is the Oppressor, Vigilance the Liberator.

Good stuff Annette!,
Walmart has no conscience or soul.
I guess they are only stocking items like this because they are sure to sell.
Given the current climate towards men and boys, expect more of this tripe on store shelves, it's a money-spinner.

I'll send Walmart an email shortly, but in the meantime, perhaps it might be an idea to contact Glenn Sacks - he's pretty hot on the campaigning against companies for their choice in boy-bashing clothing.

Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

Good for you, Annette, for speaking out. And, my goodness, you have my sympathy. Far too many men are thick when their wives spout misandric crap, and here you are having to put up with the same thing from your husband. And still you persist.I salute.

Re: Walmart and Betty Boop say: "Boys have feelings too...but who cares?"
When I first saw the shirt, it was folded on the shelf in such a way that I only saw, "Boys have feelings, too!" And I was jubilant....I thought, "Wow! Finally somebody is waking up!"
But then when I picked it up and saw the full front of it,it was like a really horrible emotional roller coaster. To have ones' hopes raised so high one second, then dashed the next.
I was so pissed off that my husband said what he did in front of the manager that I was about to tell him to shut up and go wait for me in the car...but then I realized how that would look...here I am, complaining about a misandric shirt, and I'm telling my husband to shut up and go wait for me outside.
Good thing I held my tongue on that one.
Marx, good idea to contact Glenn Sacks! If you haven't yet, I'll contact him. Or maybe I'll do it anyway, since the more people who let him know, the better."I just owe almost everything to my father and it's passionately interesting for me that the things that I learned in a small town, in a very modest home, are just the things that I believe have won the election." ----former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher

Annette, your husband is sounding like quite the woman firster. I'm going to hold off calling him a mangina, but he does seem to not care at all about how men feel about things.

Re: Walmart and Betty Boop say: "Boys have feelings too...but who cares?"
He's reallly not a mangina; I've run into real manginas (like that Hugo guy), and I know the difference!

We actually had a long talk (argument) about it this morning...he feels it looks embarassing for women to be defending men's rights. He said it makes it look as if men are too weak to defend themselves.
I said that may be true, but until more men DO speak up, what else can I do? He also said that its "not the male way to whine and complain..that's a woman's way of doing things". (shrug)
I think until we get more men to get over that attitude, we're not going to get anywhere.
(BTW my husband made a black comment...he has a twisted sense of humor like I do), that we should counter those kinds of tee-shirts with a few of our own that are insulting to females. He gave me one "idea" but its really too...over the top to write here. But suffice it to say that if I told you what slogan he suggested, you'd know he's no mangina.

Re: Walmart and Betty Boop say: "Boys have feelings too...but who cares?"
He sounds like an OK guy. He's right of course when we're talking about tee shirts, but the problem is that these shirts illustrate a mentality that takes on a more sinister form, like reducing men's rights and legal protections, when anti-male legislation is passed.

Re: Walmart and Betty Boop say: "Boys have feelings too...but who cares?"
My main concern with these shirts is that I wonder how it will impact teenage boys....men-in-the-making who are going through confusion due to puberty, etc. How will it affect their self-image?
BTW my husband came home a few minutes ago, and told me he was telling a male co-worker about my outburst at Walmart last night.
The male co-worker also didn't see what the problem was, and he (the co-worker) claims that in the men 's department Walmart has a tee-shirt that is directed against women that reads something like, "If only you'd stop TALKING!""I just owe almost everything to my father and it's passionately interesting for me that the things that I learned in a small town, in a very modest home, are just the things that I believe have won the election." ----former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher

Re: Walmart and Betty Boop say: "Boys have feelings too...but who cares?"
It has a cumulative effect. It adds to all the other digs and put-downs.
The male co-worker also didn't see what the problem was, and he (the co-worker) claims that in the men 's department Walmart has a tee-shirt that is directed against women that reads something like, "If only you'd stop TALKING!"
Well, for one thing, it's directed at adults, and it's also much less nasty. It also shows that Walmart doesn't really have a position in this matter. They just sell whatever they think people want. But I guess we already knew that. A lot of misandry in the media is pure flattery of the female customer.

Re: Walmart and Betty Boop say: "Boys have feelings too...but who cares?"
MEN have got to WAKE UP.
The average chap wanders around completely oblivious to the damage that is being done. He is so full of his daily doings, going about his lawful occasions, earning his living, but his ignorance is culpable to my way of thinking.
When it is his MRA wife that raises the conciousness and tackles the problems head on when she comes across them while he simply adds to that problem, he is doubly culpable to my mind.
What sort of chap lets his wife fight his battles and then trips her up during the skirmish?
There were legions of thick men who supported women back in the beginnings of the femonazi revolution, and the current crop of men happy to see men slandered and mocked are no better.
Show him this comment Annette.
