Today's Baby Blues comic strip- the "unpaid" mother

it's a shame this father can't just step up to the plate and tell her that she is getting paid for this. Not only does the father work outside of the home, he has to also do maintenance work around the home AND spend time with the children, and likely help his wife with chores. And yet she thinks she's getting the bad deal because she doesnt receive her own money, even though her and her children are provided for.
i know, i know. it's just a comic strip.

A witless comic strip that's taking a cheap shot at men for the vicarious amusement of women, one that supports 'victim = hero' dialogue which is so unhealthy for society. You're right to point it out and comment on its shortcomings.i know, i know. it's just a comic strip.

Re: Today's Baby Blues comic strip- the "unpaid" mother
She's not getting paid because most of the "work" she does is either for the children (in which case she either expects the children to pay her (nonsense), or the children's parents (including her) to pay her, which doesn't make more sense), for the whole family, including herself (cleaning, laundry, etc.) (in which case she most likely expects her husband to pay her, not realising that he did by buying the washing machine, the clothes, etc. As was stated, she is provided for...that's the whole idea of being a stay at home mom... she deals with the house and the kids, her husbands pays for the house, the kids, and her). She's also not getting paid because most of her "work" is part of being a fit parent (washing the kid's clothes, feeding the kids, etc.), and while she's doing that, it's not much of a bother to throw in her husbands clothes or prepare the meal for one more person. Now the question is: why would she get paid?
Finally, yes, it is only a comic strip, but let's not underestimate the power of comic strips... over time, if no one protests and some people (a lot of feminists) like it, strips like this will multiply (they already seem to be doing that) and this will bring about a shift in the mentality of the masses, even though it will take a long time... And then we could see even more misandric horrors than the present gives us.Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

Agreed...it is one-sided.
I like having money and providing for myself. I also provide for my kids and I do the housework, too. I can't say I enjoy the housework...that would be a lie. But I like my job, and I love my kids.
Life is good.

Only an ethical movement can rescue us from barbarism, and the ethical comes into existence only in individuals."
